What were Scoopers' favorite sports moments of 2018?

For me it was Woodruff's homer off of Kershaw in game 1 of the NLCS. One of my favorite sports moments ever. A reliever hitting a game tying homer off of an all time great pitcher and the wheels falling off for Kershaw after that. And the best part was it didn't seem like a fluke. The pitch before he fouled straight back and was right on. It felt like a team of destiny in that moment, which it obviously turned out not to be, but I still get goosebumps thinking about that.

My brother and parents were at this game.  My brother promised my dad a steak dinner if he hit a home run.  The video my mom sent of my dad laughing maniacally and shouting "steak dinner!" was the family meme of the year.

...I don't think my brother has paid out yet.

Cmon.  Post the video!

My kid's little league team going 19-2, winning their bracket of our district tournament, beating teams from 10 other little leagues during the season.  A group of kids who routinely got mercied two years prior who put in the work to get better and have it all come together.  A team that never had a moment of ego or off field drama.   A team without a flame thrower or a single over the fence homer.  Threw strikes, caught the ball, put it in play and ran the bases with reckless abandon.
A true joy to coach.

Woodruff's HR is tops for me. Yelichs HR in game 7 is close...for but a moment, it felt like a WS was in our grasp

On a personal note, it was the HS basketball team I assistant coach winning the regional final to advance to the state quarterfinals. It was at home because we were the highest seed, and our students stormed the court. So much fun.

Otherwise ...

Hard to top Marcus' 52-point game. Not only was it amazing to watch, but we needed those points to beat Providence in OT.

J.R. Smith's brain fart in Game 1 of the NBA Finals -- and its aftermath, which included LeBron sulking like a little baby after he had put together one of the great playoff runs ever -- was memorable. Probably the boneheaded play of the 2018 sports year.

Similarly, Sergio dunking five golf balls on No. 15 and carding a 13 ... he wouldn't call it a great sports moment, but I won't forget it.

Also, I was flying high after the Panthers beat the Bucs in early November to go to 6-2. McCaffrey, who has had an amazing season, completely hurdled a tackler during a long run, and Curtis Samuel zigged and zagged 130 yards for a 30-yard TD run. My wife and I were at the game, and it was a blast. Little did we know that our heroes wouldn't win again all season - damn!

The Brewers beating the Cubs and taking the NL Central in Game 163 was it for me, especially after the Cole Hamels comments.  Theo and Genius Joe got shut down, and no amount of Grandpa Rossy or Jason Heyward speeches or "funny" Kris Bryant videos or bullpen dancing could stop it from happening.

If we're talking about an actual "moment," it's got to be the hammer in the eight end of the USA vs. SWE men's curling gold medal match (starts at 2:08):

If we're talking about an actual game, it's a toss-up between 163 and NLCS Game 6.

Technically speaking, waterskiing is not a sport as it lacks an objective measure by which to determine a winner.  Therefore, it is merely the greatest moment in athletic exhibitions for rodents of 2018.

For me it was game 163 for a 'total event'.  I think my favorite 'moment' was Rowsey launching from the Al logo followed closely by the Teenage Assassin's dagger 3 to send us to the #TBT Final 4.
