Bump. What are we listening to in 2019?

I tried getting tickets to the Lumineers show at the Pabst right when they went on sale but the site would put me in the queue and then crash and a couple minutes later it said all the tickets were sold out. Think that will be a great show in a smaller venue but heard last time they scheduled them at the Pabst they moved it to the Marcus Amphitheater due to ticket demand.

I saw them open for Petty. Very good live band.

Spotify helped me recently discover a guy named Dave Hause (recommendation after I'd been listening to Brian Fallon, lead singer of former The Gaslight Anthem). Usually when artists go to rehab and get clean their craft suffers, but Hause's newest album is right up there with his previous three.

Just saw Brian do an acoustic set in Dublin a few months back and honestly it might've been a better show than seeing gaslight anthem.

I don't have many "saw them before they were big" stories, but Gaslight Anthem is one of the few I did. Saw them play at the Rave as the first warmup act to Thrice, Alkaline Trio, and Rise Against. Thought at the time that their set was better than both Thrice and Alkaline. Then saw them a couple of months later when they were the headliner on their own mini tour in some dinky stage above a bar downtown.

I know they did some shows for the 10th Anniversary of The '59 Sound but I think it will be a while before TGA get back together, if ever. The divorce hit Fallon hard and he's changed his sound from TGA's heyday. A lot of Get Hurt was about the divorce. He's a ridiculously talented songwriter and his voice drips with raw and real emotion.

Ever heard his Horrible Crowes stuff?

I'm sure they'll do a few more reunion tours every so often. Most interviews I've read they're always saying that Gaslight just isn't a full time thing but they're not dead.

I have heard some of his Horrible Crowes stuff, a bit too melodic for me as I'm usually more on the punk and edgier Indie side of the music spectrum.

Lana Del Rey's 'Doin' time' vocals sound like they were cribbed from Sinead O'Connor's  'Empire'.     Not that this is a bad thing.    Not the lyrics, but the vocal stylings.

The new Tool album is something.

I've been listening to Black Pumas a lot over the last month or so. Checking them out at the Pabst Theater next weekend.

Nothing super innovative but a talented funk/soul duo with a 70s vibe.

Green Day better be paying royalties to Joan Jett, as  the chorus of"Oh Yeah", the single from their new album, just flat out steals the bridge from Joan Jett's "Do you wanna touch".

Great read in the current Rolling Stone about artists worrying about making any music at all and getting sued for "ripping off" another artist.

I'm pretty sure that was probably cleared before hand.  There isn't even a deviation, that's basically a sample.  Also not surprising for Green Day who have become hacky as they come.

Well most artists that Rolling Stone would pay any attention to at this point are probably ripping off another artist

There is a lawsuit right now.  Some band sueing Led Zeppelin for "song stealing".  Article covered that.
