Jae to Brooklyn in the KD trade

Maybe a buyout to get him to the bucks or the heat?

NickelDimer

Jae was always coming back to Milwaukee. It was just a matter of from whom and for what

Love it for the Bucks and for Jae.  Didn't have to give up a rotational piece to add a hard nosed perimeter defender.

Jimmy Butler game winner!

Great play design - Spo is damn good. Great pass. And obviously great play by one of the NBA's best Marquette alums ever.

Spo as Shaka assistant? Wade picks up salary as donation to MU?

Sam Hauser going for revenge over Ja Morant today for that Murray State game, has 8 points in first 5 minutes starting for 2nd game in Celtics last 3 with Jaylen Brown out. Had 15, 14 and 12 points last 3 games prior.

Two quick fouls, too, earns him a seat on the bench.  Good role player to get buckets and boards.  Can't be a playoff starter

I'm sure Ja is heartbroken and would trade the MU game for this February regular season NBA game.

Sam proactively drafting the letter for when Brown comes back and gets his minutes and shots, and then some?

Would love to see the C's give Sam the Duncan Robinson contract.

Had 20 today.

Sam has always been a good player, with one elite skill and good overall basketball sense, and him getting some a nice NBA run doesn't surprise me.

Absolutely. It really is interesting to see what traits/skills can lead to guys making it at the NBA level who wouldn't necessarily have been expected to do so based upon college success. The MU guys alone present an interesting illustration of that with several performing far better in the pros than most would have imagined. The common thread seems to be hard nosed guys who know how to play and can fill a role. Sam's shooting, size and smarts fit the bill. Jae, Wesley, Juan, Jamal all do as well. Even Jimmy, who became much more than a role player, started that way at MU and in the pros. Hustle guy who would do dirty work and defend. Fun to see guys who aren't necessarily the best guys in college find a niche and have long NBA careers earning a ton of money.

I wouldn't call Sam "hard-nosed" the same way I'd put that label on Jae, Wes and Butler. Sam is a defensive liability in the NBA, although his basketball sense helps cover a little of that up. Sam is much closer to Novak or a guy like Craig Hodges -- someone very good at one thing that NBA teams value very much. As long as he keeps hitting 3-pointers at a well-above-league-average clip, he will have a job.

Agreed. Shooting is the elite skill as far as Sam goes, but I think it showed even at MU that he makes up for some of his physical limitations with a really good sense of being in the right place as a help defender and role player. I do think he will be in the league a while.

Oh great another Hauser thread. Sure they have a thread of their own plus how many detailed ones focusing on them  but we can derail another!

Keep this for people who finished their  careers at MU or at least graduated (Jamal)

Agreed.  If there was a quitters thread, they can be discussed there, too

I agree that it's best to keep the Hauser stuff in the Hauser thread, but nobody was "derailing" this one. StillWarriors and I were having a congenial discussion.

Sam lists his school as Virginia for NBA stuff not Virginia/Marquette not Stephens Point, thus he doesn't represent Marquette in the NBA in any capacity nor post NBA in the professional world would he represent MU by having an MU degree. Hence bringing him up and continuing it is derailing a "Marquette in the NBA thread"

Which now I'm admittedly doing as well.

Shakea offered Jae the chance to come to Milwaukee and scrimmage 5-on-5 with the team while he was waiting for his contract issues to be resolved. Jae turned it down due to injury concerns.
