The writer must be misguided, though, as he said this:

Yep.  Always thought they were dumb.  The awards that matter are handed out after a teams respective season.  Teams and players don't need ESPNs blessing.  Stupid and useless.  Surprised these athletes even go.  Must be good parties afterward.
