If you dislike Jimmy, then yes its not a great look. Otherwise, that is some of the most mundane trash talk you will ever see.  Any white guy who has played competitive basketball in a racially diverse environment has been called "white boy", in both complimentary and taunting fashion.  Unclutch your pearls.

What a horrible take. Liking Jimmy Butler and being able to recognize distasteful, racially charged behavior are not two mutually exclusive things.

There's a clear difference between calling someone a "white boy" when you have the established rapport and friendly history with, versus going out and transparently using the term as a blatant insult to a complete stranger. Regardless of how universally acceptable an expression is, it's the intent with which it's used that matters. And in Jimmy's case, it's clearly anything but positive.

Jimmy Butler, well known trash talker and antagonist, raised by a white family, with a biracial daughter, and nearly all white business partners...is totally intending it as a racially charged attack and not a garden variety trash talk moniker.  A moniker that I would bet my life savings wouldn't offend a single white player in the NBA, beyond any associated frustration from getting cooked on the court.

Clearly you missed the point. No, I'm not trying to equate the N word with "white boy" because the two are nowhere near identical.

The point of me using that example was to highlight that the mindset of "race-based taunting has already been around, so it's okay to keep doing it!" is a stupid and frankly lazy way to think. Just because a certain behavior happens and is tolerated doesn't mean that it's a good thing, nor something not worth changing.

Now don't get me wrong, I don't think it's the biggest deal in the world. Notice how I didn't go on some diatribe when I posted the link. I don't think Jimmy Butler should be cancelled or fined because that would be dumb. Calling someone "white boy" in the manner he did is simply far from what you'd expect or want from someone who represents Marquette on the biggest stage, and that's all I pointed out.

What I find far more aggravating, however, is how racially tone deaf people like you are.
