Quote from: GoldenEagles03 on January 27, 2025, 04:41:50 PMExactly what it is. Two guys that don't want to back down.

I have no idea if Shaq and Durant got suspended, but I know this was always going to be the case for Jimmy...he's not going to risk injury playing for a team that doesn't want to commit to him in the future.

That's business between billionaires and millionaires...and always will be.

I will give you some history - Shaq, Durant and Wade were not suspended for reasons around their contract.. How Butler is handling this does not happen all of the time. It is a clear outlier. My guess is you are giving him a pass because he's a Marquette guy.

Quote from: GoldenEagles03 on January 27, 2025, 04:17:47 PMNot many players are this good late into their career to even have a chance to sign a max level extension at that age. He's closer to 40 than 30 and an extension would probably take him to age 40 at least. This isn't all that uncommon.

Wade left Miami once for money that the same Pat Riley didn't want to give him, Shaq explains that he did it multiple times. Durant demanded a trade from Brooklyn. It happens with high level players that don't have the situation they hoped for. 🤷

But Jimmy did it when he was 25...and 30...and now 36...

It's not just a one time thing, Jimmy trying to secure his future and get that one last contract.  It's every contract he's ever been under.  This is who Jimmy is.

I have no reason to hate on what another guy does with his career. The situation has nothing to do with me and that's why I won't judge. It just is what it is to me.

That's fine - I don't care if you care. But you made false equivalencies and are now shifting the goalposts because those equivalencies were obviously absurd.

Quote from: GoldenEagles03 on January 27, 2025, 03:40:46 PMIt's business. Jimmy thinks his production is worth extending...the Heat feel he's too old to extend. He wants to play for someone that sees his value.  All too common in sports with aging athletes that can still produce.

Good little back and forth here from Chuck and Shaq on Jimmy.

Come on, dude. If this was the first time this had happened, sure.

But it was just business with the Bulls, Wolves, and Sixers too, right?

Did I get something wrong? That is clearly what you are doing here. YOU were the one who brought up Durant, Wade and Shaq in the first place.

Idk. It seems like he has gotten what he wanted in every scenario so far...and it seems like he will again.

Everyone handles scenarios differently, but the goal is the same.

To me, it just is what it is, and I'm in no position to be telling someone how they should go about their business or setting standards for how they go about their business.

If others want to be angry with him or bury him, so be it.

Perhaps you should give him a call and discuss what the H his problem with Marquette is?

OMax has 11 points, 4 rebounds, and an assist at halftime. Mavericks up 73-43.

Hopefully he gets enough time in the 2nd half to have a 20 point game!

Not totally defending Butler but, Bulls were not willing to pay anyone at that point, @Wolves he was right the young talent didn't want to give full effort, @76ers combination of Wolves situation(Embiid acknowledge they could had been better) and Jimmy being selfish. At Heat I believe Riley could have been smarter, but he has a big ego like Jimmy. So it became a battle of egos.

Jimmy allegedly told Pat Riley to lace them up and guard him during a team meeting. 🤣 Wonder if Pat's response was something along the lines of, "My 9 NBA championship rings weigh be down too much to guard someone with none."

Luka to the Lakers for AD, not made up.

Has nothing to do with MU hoops, but I wonder if that's a bigger shock than losing wire to wire when you're supposed to win by 23 according to shot quality.

Wonder what trade quality says here
