Long overdue.  Now the TV Stations, NBA or another program better not hire this guy for anything. Time to send a message

I can't believe Louisville did this.

I mean, Pitino said he was SHOCKED by the allegations. SHOCKED! He knew nothing about them!!!

Related: Doggone it, Roy Williams still knew nothing about those ding-dang, crazy-ol' classes his players were funneled into!

As a heart attack, nobody is going to touch this guy IMHO

I want to thank Rick Pitino for provided a great deal of entertainment and excitement to this MU fan. Louisville has always been a team I loved MU to play and Rick era added juice to the game. I often stated that Rick's style of play, charisma and way he worked the sideline reminded me of Al and I am sticking with that. His defensive style of play was as close as MU played in the 70's as any team since. He knew the importance of pressure on the ball, baseline to baseline.

Eddie Sutton, Todd Bozeman, Bobby Petrino and even Dave Bliss got coaching jobs after their respective scandals.
A large number of people want a Joe Paterno statue reinstalled.

I wouldn't be the least bit surprised to see Pitino as a FS1, CBS or ESPN analyst come March.

Actually, notwithstanding my original reaction above, I think you might be right.

He was also one of the first coaches to understand how to really utilize the three point line as well.  He changed the way the game was played.

And in the end, this scandal is how he will be remembered. Hubris.

Louisville on a Saturday was the very best of the Bradley Center era.  Just beating out Cinci.

I'm going to miss that white suit on the sidelines.

Louisville on a Saturday always had me jacked up!!!

It's about time for "Slick Rick" to bite the dust. Now lets get "Roy Boy"
out at Carolina, and start checking out Kentucky.  Like to what classes
KU's players take.

Water off a duck's back. No prob for Pitino, he headed to Porcini's for a nice dinner and some relaxation.

GooooMarquette

Loved to hate UL under Rick.  Not surprised he eventually got caught in one scandal too many, but the guy could coach.

Tom Crean being mentioned as a possible interim coach.  I wonder if he would try and get father-in-law Jack Harbaugh as interim AD.

Only if Addidas kicks in some extra cash!

Great coach.   Rumors of how dirty he was are apparently true.    I am still a little nervous about starting the gloating too soon.   There are still a crap ton of shoes to fall, particularly if the already arrested start singing.

Great post, Goose. A couple of my favorite wins and a couple of my most heartbreaking losses came against Pitino's Cardinals. Lots of entertaining, energetic battles.

On news they just said Pitino is on administrative leave.

On news they just said Pitino is on administrative leave.

Purely for contractual reasons.  Under the contract, they can't fire for cause without giving him 10-days written notice and an opportunity to respond.  Then the Board has to vote.  He'll be in unpaid leave for 10 days, then they'll officially fire him.
