Actually, I kinda agree with you now. Back in the day, I did like 42nd Street, but of the old stuff in my collection, he is the artist I listen to the least - in fact, I can't remember the last time I played anything of his. I mainly mentioned him because my daughter likes him.

I just wish I could get her to like some of my other old stuff - Led Zeppelin, Pink Floyd, Springsteen (before Born in the USA).

*52nd Street, and you can all GTFO.

I will date myself pretty easily, but Billy Joel, Elton John and Springsteen are some of the musical tastes of my old man that I've acquired. Somewhere along the line he picked up Green Day, but I swear I cannot be held responsible for that.

We can all agree that Bon Jovi should have never been a thing, and he is one of the many artists I've had to "unlearn" from my youth (among them: Boston, Chicago, Steely Dan and Dan Fogelberg. ). I kept Styx and a bit of Journey in the repertoire

Springsteen (before Born in the USA).

Greetings from Asbury Park, The Wild The Innocent and the East Street Shuffle, and Born to Run were great.  Darkness good too. The rest are all crap.  Bruce was great in the 70's when these four albums were done.

Saw him in 1978, 3rd row.  Moving.

Now, he's just like Oprah, Striesand, and....fill in the blank.  Blah blah blah

He has improved with age.  Wrecking Ball is phenomenal.  I probably like it for the same reason you don't.  Particularly like the Dropkick Murphy's inspired tracks.

Nailed it, Chili, except you left out Nebraska, the acoustic album which, IMO anyway, was crazy good - but that's the only post Born to Run album that I like.

the bolded is like saying "we can all agree that tribal tattoos should have never been a thing".  Even those Scoopers with unfortunate tribal tattoos can't defend them.

HOWEVER......i won't nit pick your unlearning, but i will say i changed one of my presets to '70's on 7' and the horn section for Chicago is something i totally under appreciated.

So I'm old enough to be your father

I mean, http://www.muscoop.com/index.php?topic=54552.0

Statistically speaking, you're old enough to be the plurality of this board's father  :)

And a lot of us are married with children.

The moral of this story is all of the bad music that you guys listened to is still so much better than the contemporary options at my gen's disposal

Funny, I know people who think they know their music and think Manfred Mann wrote Blinded by the Light.

Early Floyd is the crap.

Meddle is their first album that is solid throughout. Some good early stuff but a lot of just terrible stuff.

Their live shows from 1970 are incredible but they did need time to regroup in the studio after Sid left.

Interesting retrospective on the making of Wish You Were Here - since Sid is the subject matter of the album they discuss that transition...

Some of it is good.  Some of Saucerful of Secrets is good.  But a lot of it is just too odd.  Atom Heart Mother is pure garbage though.

Went to a really good local (Rochester, MN) ice cream place today.  Usually I get the Salty Caramel, but today I opted for the Key Lime Pie just because.  It was awesome, and of course it made me think of the keys....
