Yup.  I am beyond helpless in the kitchen (though I can wash dishes with a breakage rate under 10%), but even I could make some pancakes and sausage.

I had an Impossible Whopper at BK a few months ago.

It was .. OK.   It tastes and smells just a little different, but it's fine.    It's all buried in bun, ketchup and pickles, you hardly notice.

I consider it an inferior product, though, so if the price was the same, I'd pass.   If it was a few bucks cheaper than the real thing, I'd consider it.

Haven’t tried Beyond Meat, but I have tried several veggie burgers over the years and been generally unimpressed. The only one I’d want again is a wild rice burger they make in-house at Fitger’s in Duluth.

The fact that you aren't eating meat on a day when you aren't supposed to eat meat is a "technicality," simply because of the name of the product?

I guess that means you could eat a big slab of steak as long as you called it an "impossible salad."

Seriously? I don't see Hasidic jews saying eating imitation crab meat is against the rules because it's a technicality. It's not meat, if God was all knowing and it was against Gods will then God would've said "no meat and in a few thousand years no imitation meat either!"

I understand what the priest is saying.  The whole point of not eating meat on Lenten Fridays is to abstain.  If you are eating something that tastes the same, you really aren't abstaining from anything.

But let's be honest.  The whole fish-doesn't-count-as-meat is a big ole asterisk anyway.

Yep this was his point.  Frankly, I think the early church had a lot of fishermen and they wanted to sell more fish.  I like to think that ultimately God will judge us less on what from His bounty we denied ourselves and more on how we treated our fellow human beings.

All this fish talk got me thinking about Arthur Treacher’s. Was a big fan and they had a location by the house that is now closed.  I haven’t seen another one in years.

Not a totally unhappy ending, though, as an Arby’s replaced it.
