Sorry... didn’t mean to discourage BTC like that.  My apologies.
Wow, I'm very concerned for Benny.  Being able to mimic Myron Medcalf's writing so closely implies an oncoming case of dementia.

Pop / soda don't drink that crap since high school. Water or some type of alcohol or GTFO!

Same. I used to drink Coke all day long. Then I just stopped, and don’t miss it a bit. When I go to a place that serves only soda and water, I just have the water.

Spotted Cow is a great beer for people who really aren't into craft beers.  IOW its better than a Miller Lite.

Well, where I grew up, we called it "coke"...all of it.

"Do you want a coke?"
"Yes."
"What kind?"
"Pepsi."

Good guess, but no.  A small section of Colorado that, for some reason, bucked the trend in the rest of the state.
They do that in Georgia, too.  Given Coca-Cola's presence there it is a touch more understandable than Colorado.

Looking the map I linked, you can see it probably spread across the South all the way from Atlanta to New Mexico, and then just popped up in my little town in SW Colorado.  Not surprising because we were fairly cut off from the rest of Colorado by the mountains.  And, more likely, because our TV came out of Albuquerque and not out of Denver.

So bizarre and WRONG. I got laughed at a restaurant in Tennessee for ordering a pop. Then these people say it’s a Coke. “What if you want a sprite or orange pop?”  “Coke”. INSANITY
Thanks for ruining summer, Canada.

I find the map fascinating.  Do the Milwaukee and St. Louis bastions for soda somehow deal with Germanic roots (thinking beer)?  I have no other explanation.  But it was absolutely soda when I grew up and I knew that the Illinois types called it pop.

I don't even think it's all of Illinois. It's just Chicago and Minnesota.

I never once thought it was weird that I said pop until I went to Marquette and even the suburbanites called me out on it.

It was pop when I grew up in Rockford, Il (not Chicago!!).  It kills a little part of me every time I use the word soda now that I've lived in Wisconsin for 28 years.

Growing up in the 70s, the only soda my dad would buy for the family was the many flavors of Diet Shasta.

He'd wait for a sale and buy it when it hit ~8 for a a buck, then buy flats of the stuff.

None of it was great, but the Diet Orange Shasta was the best of the lot, maybe followed by Diet Black Cherry.  The Diet Cream Soda was awful.

The problem with New Glarus is that most of my favorite beers are no longer made.

Imperial Saison, Berliner Weisse, Black Wheat, Dancing Man Wheat, Two Women Lager, Crack'd Wheat. All gone.  Serendipity looks like it's on the seasonal rotation so that might be done.  On the plus side, there's always new and exciting beer to try!
