I wish someone would can me and give me $4m to take a hike.

MU should look for that promissory note for the soccer stadium and see if Crean is looking to spend some of that $4M.

Did not like how TC's departure from MU went down, but he truly needs to be recognized for all the good things he did for MU.  4ever and others may want to ridicule him, but he did produce at a high level.  Hope he lands well.

DePaul spend money?  And a departed coach?  Umm, no.

And a former Marquette coach?  Nope.

Lead Indiana out of the dumpster they were in, won regular season championships, but never the Big 10 tournament.  Many injuries this year, but to much pressure from the program/fans/alumni.  Thought he would get one more year.

Lets see who they direct their efforts after, Alford, Holtmann, Mack, the Millers, whole bunch out there and someone is going to get paid the big bucks.
Alford.

Betting on Chris Mack...

I'm sure there will be a few calls from Bloomington to Boston as well...

Listening to Fred Glass today, he makes it sound they will be after a John Calipari-esque coach.  Proven college winner, NBA ties, salary will not be a deterrent.  Makes it sound like that are after Billy Donovan.

Billy Donovan would be a very good choice.  Would he leave the NBA?

Indiana probably thinks they can get Brad Stevens.  Bwahahahahhaha!!!!

If I were him, I'd go hard after the Cal job.

Significantly less pressure from the fanbase. Good job. Beautiful part of the country. Terrible conference.

Lot of opportunity for building a good basketball program there. Cuonzo was never really right for that job.

I don't think NC State will go after him, but you never know. Would be interesting to see some Crean-Buzz matchups in the ACC. Assuming Buzz isn't already busy floating his name out for various 2017 openings.

Cal would be a nice fit.  Not sure if it's really good or really bad to be the guy that accepts the NC State gig if Archie turns them down after they go all in on him.

Sounds like Stevens to me. Don't see it happening.

Tom Crean is the Charlie Sykes of coaching all about him and only him.  Gasbag jerks.

They kind of look alike too! 'Cept Tommy Tutone is a little more oily I think.

Because he left Marquette for Indiana in the middle of the night similar to how the Baltimore Colts left for Indiana, we fans never really got closure with Tommy Tutone.

I think today is the day for closure for everyone.

After today, from this point forward I will only post about Crean if he is a future opponent or if the post concerns Marquette history.

I wish someone would can me and give me $4m to take a hike.

Here's the kind of guy I am: I'd take half that!

Seriously, I agree with a couple of fellow Scoopers who think it's likely there was some kind of negotiation. Indiana could have let him rot till July 1, and he obviously didn't want that.

I also agree with those who acknowledge that Crean was an overall plus for the Marquette program. I didn't know him, so he was never a jerk to me. Hell, just for bringing in Wade and getting to one FF, I give him plaudits. The way he left was douchey, but that's sports.

As for the next Hoosier coach, Donovan makes a lot of sense. Oklahoma City is dead-man's land without Durant and, soon, without Westbrook. Why sit through a total rebuilding effort that might never bear fruit? A lot will depend upon if Donovan actually enjoys recruiting - some guys who leave for the NBA realize how nice it is to not have to lie to the mothers of 17-year-olds and never want to go back.

Stevens? That''s a pipe dream. He has a terrific situation in Boston - a good young team that soon (maybe even this year) will challenge for the NBA Finals, a big salary, a GM who loves him, etc.

The only other obvious choice to make Hoosierland great again: Stan Johnson. Duh!

While that may be true, there is more money in Bloomington and everyone from Indiana wants to coach there... even if it means leaving their alma mater.
