Soon they will understand...

@JBBauer612
#mubb's Markus Howard (19) led all scorers today in USA's 104-57 win over Egypt. @markushoward11 shot 73.1% eFG% thanks to 5/9 3FG; 6a, 4r

Egypt scored 3 points in the 3rd quarter, so I'm not going to take much from the game, but ... Howard was fun to watch. It was pick-up ball, but he had some pretty passes and splashed in 3 threes in a row.

Argentina vs USA today. He's playing pretty good with the team probably averaging around 15 ppg

He really has a nice first step and it gets defenders to over pursue which gives him a nice ability to showcase that jumper. Silky smooth.
Assume what I say should be in teal if it doesn't pass the smell test for you.

Thanks for sharing.  He's fun to watch.

He's a real PG.

I would take the Rick SLU program right now.

I never realized this.  He won't turn 19 until 2018.

Considering that he won't be old enough to be drafted next year, Markus Howard really could turn into a great part of Marquette's future.

Makes sense...he is graduating a year early. I didn't turn 19 until I finished my first year of college.

US U17 leads Argentina, 59-24 at the half. Marquette bound Markus Howard with 10 points, Collin Sexton has 9 points and 3 rebounds.

ChitownSpaceForRent

You don't even need to graduate a year early to be that young. I turned 18 a week before I went to Marquette. Wasn't 21 until my senior year.

His birthdate is March 3, 1999.

If he would have been born just a couple months earlier, in December 1998, he would be eligible for the 2017 draft.  You have to be a year out of high school AND turn 19 the same calendar year as the draft.

I thought everyone held their summer birthday kids back a year nowadays.  Especially boys.  You had to be one of the youngest freshman guys at Marquette.
Have some patience, FFS.

By the way, the USA plays Korea in the quarterfinals at 2 PM CDT today.  You can watch the live stream of the game here:

I was 17 when I started at MU.  Turned 18 on 10/29 my freshmen year.

We lived in downstate Illinois when I was little, and the cutoff for Kindergarten at the time was December 1. My sister's birthday was November 24, so she basically started school when she was 4 and a half.  She has always been the youngest person in her class, sometimes by several months.

I suppose she could have been held back a year, but my parents had 4 kids under the age of 6 at the time, so any they could get someone else to watch during the day was a bonus.

I believe in Milwaukee Parochial schools the cutoff date was 11/1 back then (it was a while ago!).  I beat the date by three days so I was always the youngest in my class.

Got you beat.  When I started school, the cutoff date in Connecticut was March 1.  I didn't turn 18 until January of my freshman year.  My roommate didn't turn 18 until February.  Back then, the drinking age was 18, and it was a pain in the neck for him getting into bars that first semester (maybe got in 50% of the time).  Fortunately, I looked a lot older and don't recall ever getting carded, although I still look older and that is no longer a good thing.

Fellow Connecticutian (as you know). I also started MU at 17. You have me beat, though, as I turned 18 about 6 weeks in.

There is a big difference between playing against experience college players and other 17 year olds.

My thought exactly.  Reminds me of when lots of folks thought we were a sweet sixteen team last year when we ran some poor Italian teams into the ground.

That being said, I think Markus will have a great four year career at Marquette.
