UPDATE: Legendary musician Prince has died at the age of 57, his publicist confirmed to the Associated Press on Thursday.

ORIGINAL STORY:

Authorities are investigating a death at Prince’s Paisley Park studio complex in Minnesota, the Carver County’s Sherrif’s Office confirmed Thursday.

The sheriff’s office hasn’t released details about the identity of the person who died or the circumstances.

Deputies first arrived at the music icon’s recording compound at 9:43 a.m. local time, responding to a medical situation, Carver County Sheriff Chief Deputy Jason Kamerud told CBS Minnesota.



Deputies are on scene of a death investigation at Paisley Park in Chanhassen. More info to follow. -814

Prince, 57, was hospitalized last week. His private plane reportedly made an emergency landing in Illinois following concerts in Georgia.

The music legend held a party at Paisley Park on Saturday. He posted a photo early Sunday morning showing a scene from the Chanhassen, Minn. compound.

Yes, very underrated.  He had a deep liking for metal music, but did not portray it in his albums, but sometimes in his live performances.  2004 Rock and Roll Hall of Fame concert is an example and of course the Super Bowl in the pouring rain, which is attached.  Enjoy.

The third is an ex jock losing his job. He is still alive, healthy, and likely able to work for another employer. No longer working for ESPN is barely even a bad thing...much less an equivalency to death, on the scale of bad things.

Pearl was a magician.

I had a new grandson born a few weeks ago. His dad is an avid guitarist and they considered baby names like Hendrix, Stevie (Ray Vaughn) and Eric (Clapton).
In the end they opted for Christian as a first name...ie no guitar player reference (to my knowledge)

His middle name, however is Prince...yes ...named for Prince.

How sad that just as our family is enjoying our new "Prince" ... his namesake has died. RIP Prince

BTW odd naming reasons runs in our family. My brother is a car nut, and loved the Shelby Mustang. He named his daughter Shelby.
