I didn't know much about Linc when UWGB hired him but upon reading up on him, his past, his coaching and watching more than a few UWGB games, I have come away completely impressed with the man.  He knows how to coach.  He has turned around 2 basketball programs.  His playing days were with Gene Keady at Purdue.  He has taken a team that lost 3 of there top 4 scorers and is a game away from making the NCAA tournament.  That in and of itself is no big deal but when you look at what he has done over his coaching tenure it is damn impressive.  He is a winner and he wins wherever he goes.  Similar to Bo Ryan where he won wherever he went.

As far as his coaching style goes, his is similar to Shaka and Pearl.  Very high energy, up tempo, create turnovers, shoot lots of 3s.  Very fan friendly.  It has been very successful for him.  The jump up to UWGB was the perfect move for him.  That program will soar to new heights and he will be a hot commodity in a few years.

As far as Wojo goes, I don't have any good vibes on him as a coach.  Buzz had it.  Crean had it.  O'Neill had it.  I don't see it in Wojo.  In almost two years, there are very few instances where I go, wow that was great coaching.  I expected more out of this team.  Is it young? Yes but so is Ohio State and they are on the bubble.  So is Wisconsin when you truly look at their roster, 2 experienced players and bunch of minimal playing juniors and a lot of freshmen and they have made huge strides over the course of the year like you would expect from a young team that is coached very well.  I don't see it from Wojo and this team.  I will give Wojo a pass and hope for the best but I am not holding my breathe that we will be a flagship program of this conference.  Next year will be a very interesting and telling year.  It will be year 3 and any "good" coach will have been able to put a winning stamp on a program.  I really don't want to hear any excuses about Henry leaving for the NBA or our players are too young and inexperienced.  That is excuse making and bull.  If you are a good coach, prove it.  Wojo needs to prove it next year.

Agree with alot of what you say but stop with Wisconsin being young. They start 4 upperclassmen

I suspect you're right about better attendance at low major sites.  But I thought hoops revenues were primarily driven by TV revenues.  If that is true, the NIT would make more $$ with mid- or high-majors than with low majors who won't be a big TV draw.

Yeah you're right.

That said, he's done a really nice job with that GB team this year. And I can't wait to see Trev Anderson play for him.

Completely agree, can't wait to watch Trevor Anderson next year. Both MU & UW in a dream scenario with scholarships could have used him.

I like how Linc is reaching out to reachable in state talent as well. Keshawn Justice, Diener, Krueger, Jack Plumb are some that come to mind that could make impacts at UWGB.

Darner's plan to gather obtainable talent is sustainable.

Wagner, #1 seed in the NEC, is down 10 with 4 minutes in the NEC championship game. Another NIT spot likely gone.

What the heck #1 seeds

I've always liked the rule of conf champs going to NIT if they lose. I've liked it because it seemed fair and we were never anywhere near it. Plus I had no interest in watching it. Now that I'm watching closer, I see that this tournament becomes less and less interesting with every small school put in.

This is incredible so far. #1 seeds are what? 0 for 9 thus far?

OK, you're allowed an opinion.

O'Neill might have "had it" at Marquette, but he certainly didn't have it at Tennessee or Northwestern or Arizona or USC or in the NBA.

Crean might have "had it," but he didn't have it any better than Wojo did at this point in their respective MU careers.

I'm sure Wojo is relieved that you will give him a pass until year 3, when "any good coach will have been able to put a winning stamp on a program."

In Coach K's third year at Wojo's alma mater, the Dookies were 11-17. Clearly K was one lousy coach.

I was for it then, and I am for those schools now.  Any school, no matter the quality of the conference, deserves at least an NIT bid if they play that well throughout a whole conference season.

Is it bad to have maybe 16 of 32 schools be low majors for tv revenues?  I am sure it is.  But god bless the NCAA that for once it isn't all about the money.

It might cost us an NIT bid this year but honestly if we don't get in we can't act like we deserved it anyways?

Nope. The lowest RPI team in the NIT last year was 90 Arizona State. It's funny that Andy Katz thinks getting to the Big East final would make us a NCAA team. The reality is it would only make us a NIT team. Any less than that and we're probably not making the NIT.

Down goes another #1 Saint Mary's. They should still be an at large right?

Sounds like it's 50/50. Lunardi has them in. Palm thinks it's doubtful.

With South Dakota State (#2 seed) winning the summit, I believe the #1 seeds are now 0 for 11.

RPI of 35 going into tonight. I'm a little surprised Jerry had them out.

This is incorrect. Losing helped St. Mary's at large chances significantly. They gained 2 top 50 wins by losing tonight.
