If Vegas can secure a decent TV deal they could sponsor the participating teams.  I hope they're event is successful.

GGGG

The problem is that the NCAA owns the NIT.  They also sanction post-season tournaments and determine eligibility.  They won't get it get overshadowed by another tournament.

Recently announced that CBSSports will be televising quarters, semis and Finals in Vegas.  First round to be streamed.  I hope we don't end up there but I'd accept the invite if the NIT passed us over.

Effin' Belmont.  Eat me.

Should I book tickets to the CBI yet?

Man, that was tough to watch jsglow. When they gave the points to Belmont initially I had my hopes up. Gut punch

Belmont just lost in overtime to Austin Peay

I really think the Vegas16 could end up being better than the NIT. Yes, the teams will be better in the NIT. The tournament doesn't start untill March 26. Gives coaches two weeks of extra practice time. Cost is about $45,000 for ever how long that team is in the tourney. Las Vegas strip.

Host schools don't have to screw around selling tickets and hiring staff to put on a CBI or NIT game.

Chris Horton is a beast.

Just watched that game. Tough free throw misses at end of OT by Belmont, just killer.

That kid Horton is unreal, but wonder if it's playing in OVC competition.  But, quite an effort by him in last few games.  Averaging on year like 18 and 12....

Can't imagine Belmont missing the tourney is gonna make much of a difference for MU, but ya hate to see that.

Meaning that's one less spot now in the NIT.

High Point & Wichita state lose today as #1 seeds. Already up to 5 NIT locks so far.

Any more today I missed so far?

I think these auto bids are going to make the NIT a decent tournament.  Would love to see us play Va Tech in the the first round.

Okay, I think it's up to date.  The defeated auto bids are noted.  Missouri Valley's 2nd NCAA bid means an at large NCAA team loses its slot and takes a #1 NIT seed.  So as of this moment, 4 low seed slots are taken along with that #1 for a total of 5.  27 middle school dance cards (no kissing allowed) remain available.

We must beat St. John's on Wednesday in my opinion to have a good shot.

Bracket Matrix has us as a 5 seed for the NIT:  http://bracketproject.blogspot.com

So at least 12 teams are "behind" us now.  Need to root for those to lose and for us to pick up a couple of wins.

I'm watching that too.  Interesting with folks like Va Tech and Northwestern below us.

My recollection is that the NIT bracket matrix isn't terribly accurate.
