I firmly believe that Wojo does not want to be the coach to follow Coach K.

Now, the coach that follows the coach who follows Coach K, that's another question.
I think that would be smart.

MU may not get Tillman but it won't be for lack of effort.

MSU also visited Tillman today. His official visit starts tomorrow to MSU. Izzo was 4 deep last week, following up another unofficial visit to Lansing in first week of Sept.

And as previous poster mentioned, mom said Jackson to MSU could help Tillman decision to play there (AAU buddies).

...Tillman sure does look good in that MU uni

The nice thing is even if we give the full-court press to Tillman, which it sounds like we are, and it doesn't work out, we still have two quality bigs already committed and some other really nice options lined up.

Obviously, no shame in losing out to MSU if that is what happens.

No shame? No shame? It's OK if the rest of you want to be losers, but I demand more. Or else.

Excuse the ignorance, but what is the connection between Nwora and French (e.g., AAU, etc.)?  Nice to see Nwora telling French to have fun on his MU visit.

p.s. MuMark, I appreciate what you add to the discussion.  The above isn't aimed at you, but at those who value guru's rankings over the opinions of the coaching staff.  It's a temptation, obviously, I checked it out.
You actually have a degree from Marquette?

Quote from: muguru
No...and after reading many many psosts from people on this board that do...I have to say I'm MUCH better off, if this is the type of "intelligence" a degree from MU gets you. It sure is on full display I will say that.

More than Joey? I like Race a lot but I figured 2018s two schollies will go to Joey and a PG. If we make some room than I am all in for Race

Not quite to Joey, but there are growing similarities in their versatility.

Has anybody heard ANYTHING about Fernando, D. Tillman, or Epperson in months?  In light of the true 'active' list of recruits for our two slots are these guys anywhere on the radar anymore?

Epperson is still on the radar. Fernando and D. Tillman I haven't heard anything about for a long time.

So far two composite 3 star recruits. My gut is telling me we are heading in the wrong direction. Please tell me I'm wrong.

You're wrong. First, rankings generally don't mean chit. See Anderson, Juan. Or the flipside: Gardner, Davante.

Second, big guys were the priority for this class. There are less big guys to go around, and the highly ranked ones get snatched up by the top tier programs (not MU right now).

Ike's a project. Staff knows it. He wasn't brought in to contribute right away. Theo, IMO, is a bit underrated. Offensive game ain't as polished but he can rebound and block shots with the best of em. Sound like something we need? If staff brings in Tillman and Cain or French, this will be a very good class relative to what we need.

Eke is very raw.  I think he could redshirt and develop into a solid big in a few years.  Big and athletic but he's a project so who knows.

John's 3 star ranking has to be looked at in context.  2017 is a very deep class, especially for bigs.  Some sites believe there are 125-150 "top 100" kids this year.  In a normal year John's easily top 100.  Plus, he was dinged up a bit this summer and missed some AAU time which also dings his rating a bit.  Rankings also tend to value offense over defense.  John's strength is defense, rebounding, and shot blocking while offense is a bit raw.  Coaches value these role playing glue guys more than the ranking gurus.  Look at John's final list:  Cal, Oklahoma, Purdue...all very good programs...made the tourney last year...John's a high major player that will do the dirty work to win.

The only thing wrong with it is that it is a year late. They will come in and have to contribute right away, when just like Heldt they will probably need a year to get ready to contribute. I think Heldt was a 4 star. That is why missing on the 3 star power forward that picked Providence hurt.
