We R Final Four

If NJ is healthy, there is no scenario where Porter plays close to 25 minutes.

They're not in the same recruiting class and Norman was a 4 star out of high school.

What does this mean:
But if others, he's 20-25?

I'm referring to games. In some games, Porter probably gets 5-8 minutes when NJ is at top level and the defensive assignment is too tough. In other games, he'll get 20-25 minutes. When NJ has foul trouble, when we need shooting, when we want need multiple point guards against pressure.

I expect him to end up in the 15-20 mpg range. I imagine DO and MP2 will be similar. Starters probably get 130-140 mpg, primary bench 40-50, and the rest goes to Hamilton, Clark, Johnston, and whoever else can carve a small role.

Again......if Porter gets 20-25 minutes in game(s) I will listen to this.
Similar to those on here who think Tre will have multiple 20 point games at UWM.....maybe pump the brakes.

I'm thinking closer to 10-12 average for Porter. But I agree with what you're saying about foul trouble and other situations that could result in him playing 20 minutes or more in given games.

Especially in the buy games, assuming we're any good. Shaka isn't the type to try to run a 25-point halftime lead into a 55-point win, so if we're up big at the half, we'll get hefty doses of Porter and the second unit in the second half while NJ, Stevens, and company rest.

assuming good health, I would think James avg about 32 minutes a game.  That would be about 250 minutes on the season for a backup.
Unless James also plays some 2.  I don't think James at the 2 would become a regular thing.  Or a two PG lineup, just as rare with their size.

Porter 10-12 min.

10-12 works.  Lace a few triples, take care of the rock, and block out the diminutive citizen bias from a number of Scoopers.  Apparently people have forgotten Nigel was our smallest player last season and that Dolly Parton was 5'0.

But aren't you one of the smart guys (and I mean that seriously) who sees the value in running up scores? Sure, it may not be in Shaka's personality, but with this season being crucial to his future, I'm guessing he's managing games for not just wins, but for the tournament, and for his job. Surely the top players will play fewer minutes in such blowouts, but I'm not sure we'll see all the backups for any 2nd half this year.

I am. But I'm not Shaka and I can acknowledge his tendency to take the foot off the gas while disagreeing with it.

MU82

Also, if Porter's playing well, using him in buy games to give Nigel rest won't necessarily prevent Shaka from trying to run up the score if that's what he hopes to do.

Why? There is no evidence that Shaka has.

Damn. Maybe we are getting another commit soon?

And coming up with zingers like this one:

Quote from: willie warrior on September 03, 2026, 10:24:26 AMObviously secret scrimmages have more impact on seeding. After, with secrets the seeding committee can cover their hind quarters much better.
