Quote from: Zog from Margo on July 26, 2026, 02:05:59 PMWhy would Shaka waste time in Wisconsin? Wisconsin hasn't produced any good players since Shaka has been at MU.
Are we sure about that? Maybe not since Shaka played HS ball at Oregon High?

My bad. I thought this was sarcasm-about Wisconsin-every-time Shaka-recruits-someone-from-out-of-state thread.

Seems like MU and MSU are fishing in the same pond for point guard prospects this year........

Kamari Whyte update......says he wants to commit before his senior season.......has visited MU and Georgia Tech......also wants to visit Mississippi State,VCU and Virginia Tech.

MARQUETTE: "My relationship with them has grown tremendously. When they first contacted me last year, we just kept in contact every day, every other day. They call me, my mom, my coaches, at least one of us like every day. So the relationship has gotten even better, even after the visit. Their campus is right downtown, and everything is right next to each other. They play in the Bucks arena as well, so that's major. It's definitely a place I could see myself."

At least he didn't write "blessed to receive an offer from the University of Marquette".  ;D

Yeah, but with 2 BE schools listed, he likes our conference. No question that we are up against some heavy weights. Maybe Self and Izzo being 'bout due for retirement might make Marquette look like the place to be. Let's hope so.

Have heard from sources with good connectivity, that Xavier and Nova will both be spending $14mm+ on their rosters this year and moving forward.

With Shaka having lackluster recruiting success over past few years, is this reason?

If yes, does not portend well.

MU may have a similar problem for 27-28 as it did a couple of years ago.   With little playing time to offer due to the established players already at MU, it may be difficult to land a recruit viewed as an instant impact player.

I am excited about the potential of THIS roster.

The Athletic recently reported that Big East teams are expected to spend an average of $14.5 million on NIL this season, second only to the SEC's $18 million.

"Marquette, Providence, Xavier, Connecticut, St. John's and probably Georgetown have all spent probably more than that," Pitino said of the $14.5M figure.

We just gave a player more money than LeBron James will be making this year.

Yes, and it makes no sense and isn't true for the SEC.

You should switch your allegiance to Xavier or Nova.

A shame. It's been nice having you around, Captain Xavier (or Captain Nova).
