Quote from: Viper on July 02, 2026, 03:31:26 PMwhat's your take? Offer something. Criticizing is easy. I can say this...under my watch, Hamilton is gone. Never recruited, actually. Tre and a few others, same. Otherwise, not sure what I've posted is unreasonable, considering recent futility.

My take is what the reality of college basketball is.  You recruit guys nationally.  You recruit guys who buy into your program and who you can also afford.  You plug and play if there are gaps.  This isn't rocket surgery.  Wasting resources to get local guys is stupid.  The coaches know if they have a shot with a guy, and they are rarely blind sided.  Throwing a bunch of time and resources at the wall in Wisconsin just to see what sticks is foolishness.  The good kids are all getting recruited nationally, and you can tell from a meeting or two how interested they are in Marquette.

Please don't use logic on this board.  It doesn't belong

Shaka Smart was in the gym early Friday morning to get another look at No. 35 overall recruit Antonio Pemberton. The 6-foot-1 guard who plays for Mass Rivals took an official visit to Marquette last December and has also visited Utah last year in the fall. Pemberton told us the Golden Eagles along with the Utes and Boston College (a program he completed an unofficial visit with last month) are the three schools most heavily involved in his recruitment at this point.

After watching Pemberton, Smart stayed on the same court to evaluate No. 96 overall recruit Kamari Whyte. The 6-foot-3 guard who runs with New Heights completed official visits to Marquette and Georgia Tech last month. Both programs appear to have established strong early positioning, while Mississippi State, VCU, and Virginia Tech remain firmly in the mix as his recruitment continues to develop
