I agree that Chones is likely the best. Don Kojis, Tony Smith, and Allie McGuire also were very good, although Kojis was before my time watching hoops. Lots of good players from the state: Robert Jackson, Terry Sanders, Scott Merritt, Anthony Pieper, Gary Rosenberger, Dean Marquardt, Robb Logtermann, Trevor Powell, Vander Blue, Sam Hauser, etc. to name a few. The list of the ones that got away might be even more impressive. Fun to look back.

Rand 16.8 & 12.7 over his 3yr career career

1955- Marquette's first ever NCAA appearance culminated in an Elite 8 after beating Miami (OH) & Kentucky lead by Terry Rand, averaging 15.9ppg & 14.7rpg.

1956- Rand's senior year he leads Marquette to its first ever NIT bid while averaging 19.9ppg & 13.2

Kojis 18.6 & 15.1 over his 3yr career

1959- Marquette's second ever NCAA appearance they beat Bowling Green behind Rand averaging 13.9ppg & 13rpg

1961- Marquette third ever NCAA appearance they quickly lost to Houston behind Kojis averaging 21.4ppg & 17.1rpg

Even if you say Kojis was the better player you'd have to acknowledge that Rand is the one who put us on the map due to the bolded.

Cue dgies, who doesn't post very often anymore. One of his oft repeated statements is that Al put us on the map. But I get what you are saying. Marquette has been a bit like Poland over the past 200+ years. Sometimes on the map, sometimes not. Since Willie has emphatically stated that we are a low major, I guess we are currently off the map.

I was lucky to see him play at Marquette. My Gawd, I was in mourning when I learned that he had left.
