Probably Buzz on his way out of the arena yesterday

Along with Donavan Davis and Kager K. After Saturday's game, they probably all thought their time was better spent with Buzz.
Wild horses couldn't drag me into either political party, but for very different reasons.

Quote from: onepost on November 07, 2025, 01:53:52 PMSo what's our read on the 2027 class now that we can get going on it?
Three open spots I think - main targets would be Donovan Davis, Jaxson Davis, Devin Cleveland (my #1 hope), Jack Kohnen, Kager Knueppel?

The great thing is that they're all pretty damn close to Milwaukee - LaLu in Indiana (Cleveland), Wisconsin (Donovan Davis, Kohnen, Knueppel), and Illinois (Jaxson Davis).  So Shaka can be front and center as often as he wants, which made a huge impression on Egbuonu in particular.

We need skilled bigs. That's all.

How can you say this when we have a single good guard (James) that isn't a senior?

Can't believe Egbuonu signed his NLI even after that Indiana disaster.

It's even worse than that.......after watching the game......Davis made plans for another visit to MU.

Yes.  And I'm a big Stevens fan too.  Not sure why you continue to think Zaide isn't a good guard/doesn't have nice upside/. He's long, athletic, great form on his shot (generally a good shooter), good rebounder from his position, and a good defender.  I think he'd start on every Big East team.

its close between him and stevens.. thats my point..

And no Zaide doesn't start for UConn, St. John's, Creighton, Providence, Villanova
and maybe not Georgetown.

He'd be the sixth man for all but Uconn and St. johns

I think you're severely underrating Zaide here. He's our best defender and doesn't really have weaknesses in his game. I don't think he starts for SJU or UConn, but he's a better option than what the other schools have. If you don't think he's starting over Blake Harper or Ryan Mela, I don't know what to tell you.

He isn't our best defender. Chase is.

We don't play exceptional defense when he is on the court.

Our team Adj. Defensive efficency is 96.5 with him on the court this year, average for this team. Last year it was 95.8 3rd worst last year.

Zaide doesn't generate anything in the defensive box score. He has a -0.02  box BPR this year. An average defensive box BPR this year for a bad defenisve team. He had the 4th worst box BPR last year.

Lastly he isn't a matchup defender.

Ben Gold, Nigel James, Royce Parham, and Chase Ross are all better defenders than him.

Ryan Mela gets his hands on the basketball defensivly.

Blake Harper would start over him because he fits the balence of the team better.

Gonna have to agree to disagree here. He routinely gets put on the guy who is hot and routinely shuts him down. Coit on Saturday being the most recent example.

I do agree that Chase over his career has been a better defender and our best defender. He's been getting beat pretty consistently this year though.

If James is Big East all freshmen caliber, Ross is all conference, Zaide has no weaknesses, Ben is nba prospect solid, Parham is about to bust out, the coaches have Owens 'right', Hamilton gives a strong 10 minutes, Sean's wing is ok, and Stevens is a Rosenberger sharp shooter off the bench, all our collective angst has been for naught. Worry about Red Panda on the unicycle, not Marquette winning. Shaka sets the tone.

This just isn't true. Just looking at the maryland game.

Defensive RAPM/100pts
Nigel James -5.0
Royce Parham -1.3
Ben Gold -0.8
Chase Ross 0.7
Zaide Lowery 1.7

only owens, clark, and stevens had a worse defensive correlation

I don't doubt the numbers, I just think it's an oversimplification. Coit was lighting us up. Zaide was asked to stop Coit and be the primary defender. He did his job. Coit had 12 in the first few minutes of the game and only 7 total after the switch

I don't doubt the numbers, I just think it's an oversimplification in this particular case. Zaide was doing his job, you can rewatch the game to see that. How taking him off a wing to stop a guard affected the team defense in his minutes? I'm not sure. Based on your numbers, it doesn't look like it worked. But it wasn't a Zaide failing.
