Coaching is the key next year, trying to get players open as I am not sold on many of these players can create there own shots.  Sean Jones is probably the only one of the returning players.  If he runs the same offense good luck

This year is more exciting, as none of us will know what's going to happen!  Freshman step up maybe, Owens to become a star, Clark can play and maybe just maybe Norman can play.  All interesting

TBD. Leaves alot to be desired. Thats a limited group

Zaide and Damarius have huge ceilings.

Very reminiscent of summer 2022.

Can't stop a lineup of 5 glue guys.

Good thing we have a coach who most recognize has been a fine developer of young talent. Of course, a few Scoopers think every Marquette player who improved the last 4 years did so despite Shaka and his assistants.

Damarius.. definitely. Can put up major numbers at some point in his career. Question is when.

Zaide - overall, yes, can be a huge part of the team.. but on offense, have trouble seeing him as a potential medium-heavy usage guy. If he was playing great offense at say 18%.. I think that's great. But, really difficult for me to see him morphing into a 23-24% or higher usage guy.

Yup, this is why I expect Royce and Sean to be the team leaders in scoring next year, provided full health. Ben and Zaide have always been pretty moderate usage players, and if Chase was going to turn into a 23-24% usage guy, he would've taken more of a jump last year when we desperately needed a second scoring option.

Though admittedly, this is probably a post for a different thread.

Agree.

Chase is the most interesting player, X factor, going into the season.  If he can play like an all Big East player Marquette has a shot at being top three in the conference.  If he plays like last year they could be middle of the pack.  I think he, Parham (Justin Lewis leap) and Sean need to be the stars of the show with the rest of the upperclassmen making a solid leap to consistent role players.  Owens breaks out? Things are really going well.  One of the freshman looks competent?  I'd be down right giddy.  Lots of ifs and buts.  It will be fun to find out.

IIRC Chase was playing like an all big east player at the start of the season - until as it has been reported afterwards that he apparently sustained an injury.  There were mock drafts having him go in the 1st round in December (again per my memory maybe it was earlier..) - he was making his 3s and honestly looked more alpha than even Kam as I recall.  If he is healthy I would expect him to be the leading scorer - if Jones' is back 100%, and reportedly he was there, being a stud and leader during practices etc. at end of last season and Parham is a  "savant on offense" and can be a distributor a la Oso I think the offense could be back in business.  That is my kool aid drinking prediction.  Sans kool aid I worry about the coaches ability to adapt if the offense isn't rolling which would have been my criticism last year - you have some quality offensive players - if the at the hoop/3 point shots aren't working adapt..  Can't wait to see how it all plays out!

As far as Johnston being a glue guy, I'm sure Shaka knows what he is doing.  But most high major D1 glue guys are stat stuffers in highschool it seems.  Will be interesting to see how this plays out as well.

Vander Blue Man Group

Not related to recruiting but since the discussion is here if I had to put money on who'd be the leading scorer this season it would be Royce.

I'd be pretty surprised if it wasn't Chase Ross, health permitting.

If nothing else, Chase could play 33-34+ minutes per game next season.
He will almost surely lead the team in minutes played
