I would call Parham and Abraham forwards. I'd call Owens a wing. I'd call Knueppel a shooting guard.

Owens is similar to OMax who obviously played the 4 for us, Knueppel is listed as a SG but plays like Joplin in HS and is 6'6".

Either way they have room for a Grad transfer Forward and they absolutely should use it for depth IMO.

I don't think that's the strategy.

Parham, Owens, Knuppel, Abraham all forwards.

Guards are just what we have now. Still going to start 3 guards 2 forwards.

It might be better stated to say wings instead of guards, but I think the four guard characterization is pretty much right. O-Max didn't play like a 4. He wasn't a board crashing glass eater, he was a wing who spotted up in the corners and attacked the rim on the drive. He didn't defend inside primarily, he generally took the best opposing wing which could be anyone from traditional 2-4.

Parham could end up playing similar to Oso. I think the hope is one passing big with a diverse skillset surrounded by versatile wings and guards that can switch 1-4.

Parham is a big/ will be a big he has time to possibly grow more. The other three guys would all play the same position in Marquette's offense.

I am looking for an article where a Marquette recruit said it. But there is literally an article of a recruit talking about how spots 1-4 at Marquette are all the same functional position. (i think it was Jaden Shelley but they edited the article)

And that kinda stuff comes from the staff to the player.

Parham is the only "forward" in that list for Marquette purposes, because he is the only guy that can play the 5 position. Every other recruit in the offensive function, is a "guard" in their role.

Yes but that doesn't mean that playing 4 out is with 4 small guards........they will recruit switchables like Owens, Abraham, Sir and OMax.......those guys are needed......to go along with the guards......

We may have to do that this year because of the roster......but I have little doubt that Shaka would prefer to have players that have guard skills but who can defend bigger players......especially since Shaka's defense requires tons of switching.

He committed to UW-Madison months ago.  He's just going through the whole process and enjoying the chance to see other places.  It's why they've shut down recruiting.  They view him as a small forward in their system.  Their recruiting class is going to be pretty highly rated for a coach their fans want fired

1. Marquette will start a 4 guard system from this point on, we'll have forwards that can play those spots, but it is 4 guards. This is the pitch to recruits.

Those guys are all guards in their offensive function.... thats it. There is nothing else i am arguing.

Whether its Kolek, Kam Jones, Stevie, and Joplin, OR whether its  Norman, Lowery/Knuppel, Owens and Abraham

the 1-4 will play the same functional offensive role.

I really hate how year in and year out, Gard continually kills it in recruiting with all those silent commits.  👀

He talks MU here

I don't know that I've ever seen a player be this blunt in one of these interviews:

Quote"I've taken three official visits, Notre Dame, Stanford, and Virginia," Knueppel said. "They're great guys over there, but I probably won't be going to Stanford."

Cardinal-maniac says they cooled on him because he couldn't qualify academically, and MU boosters are paying him huge $ not to go to Palo Alto.

So on unofficial get together, what do they really do?  Can he practice with some of the team or not?

There are no practices, but sure he can workout or play with the fellas. He can meet with athletics staff, get a tour, etc. It's just on his own dime except a few free tix to an athletics event.

Wanna stay overnight in the room across from Kam & Jop's? Cool. Just gotta pay. Want to grub at the training table? Ok. Just gotta pay cost.

Update, Ofri Naveh's handler/agent/recruiting aid was at Marquette 2 days ago.

But he is also visiting plenty of schools in the greater Chicago area.

I understand he works with plenty of Israeli basketball athletes.

New interview with Isaiah Abraham: https://t.co/Z2ClE7b7Rg

Always seems to be mentioning Marquette first. Reiterated that he "values relationships" with coaches, players, and staff above all else in his recruitment process. Sure feels like he's a strong lean to MU.

Niv's handler?  Let's hope not

The Sultan

I love that all of Scoop's entire Israeli basketball experience is Niv. Like no other player from Israel even exists.

It seems like Shaka has his pick.

Milkshakes

Seems like a great fit and a great kid.  Exactly the kind of kid Shaka could really coach up.
