I'd rather Karim Mane be 100% committed at a time of his choosing than committing early and having doubts the entire time like Joey Hauser.  That isn't a shot at Joey.  In the long run, Marquette and Joey expended a lot of time and sweat for naught.

I wouldn't ever call a win over Wisconsin naught.
You actually have a degree from Marquette?

Quote from: muguru
No...and after reading many many psosts from people on this board that do...I have to say I'm MUCH better off, if this is the type of "intelligence" a degree from MU gets you. It sure is on full display I will say that.

Too late Doc, he's already cut his list down to Nebraska, Iowa State, or Wichita State.  Wichita State supposedly leads due to having no one currently on scholarship.

Admittedly, 99% of it is because I'm impatient and want to know where he's going. But most of that is because I feel like the longer it goes, the better the chance there is he doesn't come to MU(and he could still end up there). That's my own personal opinion. He can wait as long as he wants, sure, but right now on April 19th, I'd bet a decent amount that he won't be able to visit anywhere. Again, my opinion. I feel like if he was so certain he wanted to come to MU, he could have/would have pulled the trigger by now. I mean, if you knew, why wait??

He's probably not certain he wants to come to MU yet. Some people don't reach certainty until they've done their due diligence and explored all of their options.

I know there are plenty of examples of recruits who get blown away on a campus visit, cancel their remaining visits, and commit. But most recruits go on most if not all of their visits and then make a decision. Sometimes it's the most recent visit that gets the commit, sometime it's the first visit. I have no idea what Mane is thinking, all I know is unless he is trolling the coaches by taking their daily calls, MU is still very much involved. He could go pro, he could go to MSU, hell he could go to DePaul. Hopefully it's blue and gold.

Getting punched in the nuts was Joey's greatest contribution to Marquette.

I do want the most talent possible I say that repeatedly, but transfers like Burton committed to Texas Tech without ever being able to visit there or anywhere else. Transfers have been committing everywhere. Sure, every kid is different, but he's been to MU, that's one school on his list, heck the transfers haven't had that luxury. Maybe it's just me...I'm not in any way shape or form a patient person.

Just spoke to junior Ola Ajiboye (@ola_ajiboye1) who has visited @SIU_Basketball and @ValpoBasketball. He injured his hand this season and missed a big chunk of time, but now is fully healthy. Marquette is gaining interest in him, and expect the offers to pick for the big man.

Big things were expected of him this year.

The biggest unknown player set to become a standout is Von Steuben's Ola Ajiboye. The 6-8 big man has significantly improved and made a huge leap up the City/Suburban Hoops Report player rankings.
"He's put in the work and improved so much," says Von Steuben coach Marvin Williams. "He lives in the gym and is a humble kid who is driven. He wants to be the best he can be and is never satisfied."
Ajiboye was a double-double machine for a Von Steuben team that struggled last year in the Public League's White Division. But his upside is easy to see with his size, mid-range shooting ability and the look of a player who likely isn't done growing.
Williams actually shut his big man down this fall due to the growing pains Ajiboye has felt from the three inches he's added since last season.
"The sky is the limit," says Williams of Ajiboye, who is also a solid student academically.

Another look at Ola Ajiboye from last fall:

When asked what he is looking for in a school, Ajiboye replied "I'm looking for a school I could easily adapt to. A diverse and safe environment for my family to visit anytime. A strong communication and relationship with my coach and teammates."

Ajiboye is a lengthy 6'8" forward that excels on both ends of the court. He has the size, length, and agility to shut down the interior but can also defend wings and forwards on the perimeter.  Around the basket he is a skilled rim protector that blocks shots at a high rate with his great length. Ajiboye is an active rim runner, strong finisher around the basket, and has a developing jumper from the outside. "I have been improving on my shot a lot. Countless hours in the gym perfecting my shot."

For his junior season, Ajiboye has some lofty goals. "For my upcoming high school season is to go down state and city. Also, to put Von (Steuben) on the map."

Don't gamble with your future. Draft status is harder than ever to predict w the virus & you want to be ready. Marquette disrespectfully takes another pg. Trust in a Championship program with a Hall of Famer. Never gamble with your future. MSU is a home run decision.

This is a bit off topic, but interesting I thought. Everyone used to get all worked up when Buzz or Crean would over sign. Well, I saw Matt Haarms has Texas Tech on his final list...IF he were to commit there..They would be over signed by...not 1..not..2..not 3...but 4!! 4!! Now Jahmius Ramsey has yet to declare for the pros, so you can assume that frees up one, but they would still have to clear up 3 more roster spots.

I can only imagine how people here would feel if MU did that. Reading Texas Tech's board, Beard is a 100% win now guy and has NO tolerance for guys that don't develop almost right away. Sounds like if you don't get better in year 1, he will be done with you. Interesting philosophy.
