Karim and his family sat directly behind me and Mrs. Gato. They enjoyed  the game, especially his mother. They had the Howards and Brendan's mom in the row behind them. They got the whole family picture. Standing at the end and cheering!

That is the best news I heard all day. Team Parents can sometimes  be very helpful in closing the deal in these matters.

Not sure if this was posted before. Excellent Interview with Karim. He wants to focus on being Defensive Player of The Year.

Looking forward to how this weekend has gone for the visit. Tuesday mailbags will hopefully give some insight.
Assume what I say should be in teal if it doesn't pass the smell test for you.

Then he needs to learn from a former defensive player of the year and stick around a few years.

Intriguing... Wojo being a former DPOY has to help... I really hope he liked his visit, he could be the difference between good & great next year

Really like his crossover. Looks very fluid with the ball in traffic.

Any word on other recruits at the game besides Mane?

This is an interesting research report that chronicles some of the issues Cooley & Company face on recruiting trail.  Talks about how they targeted a lot of top candidates but missed. Ended up with guys more in line with their past practices.  In a way this further reinforces how well MU did this year.

This has nothing to do with Marquette recruiting.

How has there been no stories/comments/news coming out of the Karim Mane visit?
Just came and went with no word.

I think a lot of this process is going to be quiet. He is still evaluating his draft stock and college options.

If you can create a group of guys who have a lot of synergy, then that alone is all that's needed to recruit some players.  Most of these kids have never been away from home, so the most important thing to them is a group that feels like "home".  Dawson Garcia mentioned his connection with the kids on the team as being the primary factor in choosing Marquette.

Even so, a bit surprised we haven't gotten a Ben Steele interview or something along those lines (unless I missed it)

After watching the debilitating loss to Providence, I started to think of ways to improve the team.  I quickly realized that MU has issues handling the ball outside of Howard.  The question is.... who is going to handle the rock next year?  MU is in dire need of another ball handler.

Ben had a nice article right before the visit.  Not sure what he could add to that.

Agree with this. Ball handling even this year is suspect. Watching Bailey or Cain dribble under pressure is painful.

Markus, Koby, Sy. Maybe Sacar. Not much beyond that.

Rumor is that Jalen Johnson left IMG because he was hardly playing there and he got homesick basically immediately.

My guess is he still ends up at Duke next year.  But there is some speculation that he is transferring back to Nicolet.  If he got homesick at IMG, does he consider asking out of his NLI to Duke and look closer to home?  Would Marquette be an option?  If he were to want in at Marquette you take him no questions asked, but he is kind of the same type of player that we have 3 commitments from already.

I'll be interested to see where he winds up just for the last semester of high school.  I'd imagine Duke's second semester has already started?  So doubtful he had enough high school credits to graduate early and enroll a semester early at Duke.
