12 scholarships accounted for.  I will never say never, but I also won't believe it until I see it.

Now, if there are wholesale departures, everything changes.

Not getting greedy, only want 1 PG. Therefore we have a great scholarship situation, the opening already set.

I remember Dodds posting that Wojo’s shortcoming was failure to recruit a PG and the irony that he landed two with Kam and Stevie. Neither looks like a PG to me. Both good players but better off the ball. Norman and Sean man the point next year is my guess.

Yup. Definitely going to need a transfer point guard who can give us 30 minutes a game next year.

Wouldn’t put money on that happening.

Genuinly. Not the issue at all tonight. Heliocentric offense did fine on short notice againist the best team in the country who shot 50% from three taking 26 attempts.

Joplin had poor effort in the first half. Zaide looked lost out there. Ross was too sick he shouldn't have played.

But the issue was not "point guard" play.

We have 15 assists total in our 2 games without Kolek. Far from the end all for offensive success. But the ball movement and, particularly, the ability to get a defense to collapse and create open looks isn’t there without Kolek.

How many open looks did we get on the perimeter? How many easy buckets by cutters or rim runners did we get? How many transition points and hit aheads did we get?

Oso isn’t banging his way to 16 next year. Everything has been iso ball and baskets that take a lot of work to get the last 2 games.

Losing kolek sucks because he is arguably the best on court college player we have had since Wade. It is Kolek vs Jae.

However, assists are simply a stylistic choice.

How many open looks did we get on the perimeter? 33.3% against the two best opponents we play in the conference. We shoot 35.4% on the year.
How many easy buckets by cutters or rim runners did we get? Less cutters and rim runners, more defensive pick sixes.
How many transition points and hit aheads did we get? Hard to do when opponents make shots.

The complaint of a "lack of point guard" is a stylistic complaint, as opposed to a complaint of offensive functionality. The offense tonight was better offense that Marquette had in its first 5 big east games of the year. The offense against creighton was completly fine and was not the reason marquette lost.

Yeah if we trust the current roster this little at PG to run actual sets then someone is insane

Either..

1. Anyone who says the PG for next year is already on the roster

2. Shaka if thats the case

I pray to god its the people on here saying we wont get a transfer that are the crazy ones.

I wouldn't make the mistake of using two games where players who haven't been asked to run the point all season are being asked to run the point for 40 minutes against two elite defenses to determine what they might look like after they've had an entire offseason preparing to play with them at the point.

I'd love that. Karaban is so good. When he shoots it well it's a bonus because he does so many other winning things on both ends.

They showed they could deal with an injury to Clingan, but if Karaban went down UConn would have a hard time adjusting.

That's the $64,000 question.  If the Shaka thinks they can tweak the offense in the offseason and get players to adapt to new roles, then we likely stand pat.

Whether or not it works is another question.  If it works, great!  The standpatters will be proven right.  If not, then it'll be a disappointing year despite a strong senior class of Kam, Stevie, and Jop.

24th in Kenpom.  What's your threshold for elite?

It’s the Joe Flacco argument with regards to elite.  Creighton has a good defense and isn’t a liability but is it Houston good?  It’s a big gap

Assuming only TKo and Oso leave, MU has 12 scholarships accounted for next season.
Gold, Joplin, Amadou, Hamilton, Parham, Owens, KJones, Mitchell, Ross, SJones, Norman, and Lowery.

There is an opening.

Thanks I thought it had been mentioned all are accounted for. Thought TKo additional COVID senior year doesn't count towards scholarship?
