Juan Anderson's Mixtape

Marquette coaches at his game last night.  Putting up massive numbers as a senior.  Good size and really smooth athleticism and jumpshot based on his recent highlights.

It sure seems like we're going to add another 2024 recruit based on how many we have watched recently.  Im sure Seans injury has something to do with that.

Dug around online to learn more about him.  Apparently started playing organized basketball last year.  Might reclassify to 2025.

Elite athlete, handle and shot look a little raw, which I guess should be expected.

Matt Painter here at RMHS to watch Ian Miletic.

Another mid major for Marquette to compete against.

Did Shaka watch both Stevens and Lewis last night, or just Stevens?

They played each other, so presumably he was watching both.

BrewCity83

He just watched with one eye.
The shaka sign, sometimes known as "hang loose", is a gesture of friendly intent often associated with Hawaii and surf culture.

Has he used up his eligibility yet?

I see more eligibility in his future.

Incorrect.  Stevens played vs Georgetown Prep.

Lewis plays for Gonzaga Prep.

Lewis and James played head to head on Saturday with Shaka in attendance.

Followup:

Georgetown Prep played at Bullis (Stevens) and Bishop O'Connell HS played at Gonzaga Prep (Lewis).

The drive from Bullis to Gonzaga is about 50-60 minutes.  Doable, if the games start at different times.  Very hard to do if the games start at the same time, unless Shaka barely watches each games.  That's why I asked.

We have proof Shaka was at the Bullis game (picture on Twitter).  Other than JFP's post, I haven't seen anything placing Shaka at Gonzaga Prep.

Has he used up his eligibility yet?

Miami tight end Cam McCormick filed a petition with the ACC on Tuesday in hopes of receiving a ninth year of eligibility in 2024. The 25 year old started his college career at Oregon and spent seven years with the Ducks program. The request had previously been approved by the Pac-12 before he transferred to Miami.

So after watching both recruits, have you seen enough to think they can help as freshman?

tower912

They project well.  There will be opportunity.   I will stick with...whatever MU gets from freshmen is gravy.

Next year, not concerned how Owens fits, but concerned about the center position, need somebody to step up! Either Parham or Hamilton, will never be sold that Gold is a center

Obviously.

Assuming no surprise departures, pencil in Gold, Joplin, Mitchell, Kam, and Chase. Stevie the primary ballgandler, but more shared responsibilities.    Zaide and Trey obviously the back up guards.    With Hamilton, Amadou, Parham, and Owens, who puts in the work and develops?   I like the freshmen, I just hate to have to rely on them.

Sean Jones?
Typical recovery from an ACL these days is 9 months. Sean should be back in full by late November, if not sooner.

BCHoopster

Why do you think Gold can play center? Has shown zero center type moves, basically just shoots the 3, once in awhile he fakes from the corner and drives to the basket, not sold on him being strong enough to defend the position.

He's tall?
(I agree with you, btw. Gold can play the 5 on the offensive side, but barring a huge offseason strength gain, he can't consistently guard the post).

Gold playing the five at this point is not a great option.

He would probably pick up two fouls in five minutes and sent to bench.  In the two years he has been here, has anyone seen him in the paint with his back to the basket and shoot a turn around hook like shot, as Oso does.  NONE.  His main role is to stand/wander the perimeter and await a pass for a catch and shoot.  81% of his shots are three pointers, 81%. That's it.

He doesn't drive to the basket, oh wait, he did once last game.......therefore no fouls against him.  So far this year, he has attempted 7 free throws.  Heck, Lowery has attempted 12.  Three point shooters don't usually get fouled, unless MU opponents....

Amadou and Hamilton will probably have the five next year and Gold will remain in his current role.  Tower may have a different view because he is Gold's biggest Scooper fan, but at this point, I don't see it.  We will see.

Is this required in today's game?

Not sure Amadeau will play much either, he is so skinny, plus in 10 months do you think he is going  to become a player?  Should have redshirted him this year.  I can see him  transferring like Itejere
