Guys playing the 1 through 4 basically do the same thing...and they don't do the transfer portal much.  Seems to be MU's calling card.

Making the final 8 even though MU hasn't offered says a lot about where the program is in the eyes of recruits'

The truth SO FAR. Things can change. But I am super happy with where we are at and hope they don't much.

It seems that Shaka is now recruiting players who are slightly higher ranked and a bit higher profile (Abraham, Kneuppel, Jalen Shelley, etc.) though he also continues to work the "undervalued" players (Josh Hill, for instance). Once you start to recruit those players ranked in the top 75 or top 50, how much of a factor is NIL money? If it is a big factor, MU cannot play that game effectively nor can other BE schools (UConn may be an exception). I know there are a handful of top-rated kids getting substantial NIL money as freshmen, but how far down the list does this trickle? Are schools like MU, Xavier, Creighton, etc  just out of the running for the truly elite high school players?

Creighton and St. John's say "Sup?"

If Cooley has early success at Georgetown they'll join the club, and possibly Nova if Neptune finds success.

I'll be interested to see if NIL catches up with Marquette for these recruits. I don't think the issue is that Marquette can't compete, but rather that they seem to be the only school that seems to take the "not a recruiting tool" aspect seriously.

Our players are getting paid and getting opportunities, but that doesn't come into play until after they get here. I'll be interested to see if that changes or if BTD is allowed to play more of a role earlier if we do strike out on those top recruits.

Silkk the Shaka

I'm guessing Shaka doesn't want to emphasize it because he wants the guys who have the mindset to overachieve rather than focused on the shorter term payout. But he's not naive, and he knows we have to compete there. He's likely savvy enough to slow play it and when it comes up naturally he says to ask current and former players on the team how they have been treated in that department.

I'm not understanding you...you don't think MU is telling kids what they will get when they sign with MU from an NIL standpoint?

The way to put it is "we don't do signing bonuses". Top 30 guys want signing bonuses.

Kon is the only player, MU is recruiting who is unanimously in that range.

Hill really isn't an under the radar guy. He is a top 100 guy when you look at his measurables and upside. Look at his offers.

Marquette really recruits from 40-150ish. It is kinda where they always have recruited in recent history. Shaka likes multi year guys.

No, they aren't guaranteeing kids any amount of money and recruits aren't meeting with BTD. They don't want to promise guys who've never worn the jersey more money than players who've already invested sweat into the program. So they won't tell Kon Knueppel (for instance) he's going to get more than Stevie or Chase, he'll have to earn it once he gets here.

Got it...I'd rather see it on salary...but whatever.  The pool of money is what it is...put it in a signing bonus, salary or retention bonus.  All the same...maybe not to a 17/18 year old in need I guess.

I thought everyone was getting the same amount and guys could chase additional dollars?  BTD signed every men's and women's player.

Last year every player on the women's and men's team got something, but 3 men's players got much more!

From BTD or from additional deals outside of BTD?
