I feel like he's been on the hot seat for years, always doing just enough to not get fired. Saved by a Sweet 16 in 2018, then saved by COVID in 2020 and a tourney bid in 2021, and this past year they at least finished pretty strong (won 5 of their last 6 after a 4-12 ACC start). I'd guess he's one losing record away from losing his job, but he hasn't had a losing record since 2013, so he just keeps on (barely) keeping on.

What am I supposed to think about Brad Brownell? He has lasted for 12 seasons at Clemson with just a couple NCAA appearances to show for it and hasn't won more than four of his five predecessors. On top of it all, he's not even from the south - he's a midwesterner.
Mostly, men's basketball is not important to Clemson. He (the program) doesn't take away resources from football. No NCAA violations. Kind of like being the football coach at Duke or Kansas.

He's basking in the light of what the master of just sneaking by, Oliver Purnell, created at Clemson.

Maybe Clemson realizes what they are as a basketball school?  Without looking, are kids graduating and staying out of trouble?  Maybe the schools is happy with that

On a related note, Milan Momcilovic has committed to Iowa State citing a quick connection with MKE native TJ Otzelberger.

An impressive 9. Wow
It will be tough but I like Shaka's chances.

Of course, if picks MSU it will be a clear sign Shaka cooled on him because of academics. (can someone from Madison tell my if I said that correctly?)

I assume these "final" schools lists are just the easiest way to say "we are considering your best and final NIL offer?"

Probably no more so than saying two years ago it meant "we are considering your best and final under the table offer."

Cutting to 9 schools is ridiculous, cut it to 3.  Must spend all night talking to coaches!  I would believe is list is really much shorter.

He might want to see what other recruits these teams are signing.

There are thousands of good high school players. The table leans
towards the schools.  It's silly to think other wise. Shaka should be able to recruit who he wants.

Marquette is the only one where basketball is king. His list includes Alabama and Clemson among other big FB schools. It's very much of a long shot but my guess is that he just might want to play where the focus is bball.

Dude can do what he wants.

Looking at that list, I would guess he likes the idea of playing at a football school and included Marquette because he has a good relationship with their staff.

As I see the logic, if he wanted to play where basketball is the focus, he would have more than 1 school, out of 9 on his list, where basketball was the focus.  Not saying he won't pick MU. Just saying that if he does, it's probably more of a relationship thing then a focus on basketball thing.

I like this take. I have to admit it makes more sense than the one I posted.

Most of the staff is watching Tre Norman against The Skill Factory. Had 22 at half missing 3 FT's. Finished with 30-9-4. Didn't play max minutes because they won by 30.
