Good to know that you know more about women than, you know, an actual woman....

A married man damn near approaching 80 arguing about courtship with a woman barely past her... um... uh... 30's?

I love off-season Scoop.

Wow, I'm very concerned for Benny.  Being able to mimic Myron Medcalf's writing so closely implies an oncoming case of dementia.

Marcus is known for chitty food, hey?

Mason Street Grill isn't that bad.  The Milwaukee Chop House at the Downtown Hilton isn't that bad either.  The problem with Grand Geneva is the number of mouths to feed on a weekend in the summer.  I'll bet they had five or six weddings on top of three or four corporate events.

Sir

Solid review. Mason and Chop House are not my favorites but definitely well above average. I enjoy Happy Hour at Mason quite a bit.

not so sure.   saturday might just have been a "bad" day to be on KP.  the whole resort, including the golf courses were a hoppin!  if you're looking for a job, ya might want to stop by geneva nat'l as i'm sure there might be some openings to fill this morning

Going to any chain restaurant in LV is a huge mistake unless it's a particularly good one that they don't have in your hometown. I am in disbelief of the people who spend the money to come to one of the best food cities in the world and eat at McCormick and Schmick or California Pizza Kitchen.

Who said anything about eating there? Fact is most beer on the strip is absolute crap, and although it's a chain, the yard house has a huge selection of good beer.

I am not talking about the actual food or drink,  I am talking about the experience.  Why spend hundreds or thousands of dollars to go somewhere only to do things you can do at home?  Most beer anywhere Is crap, but every decent bar or restaurant on the strip has some good ones. Go to one ask the bartender for a recommendation of a local brew.

I know our situation is unique and that everyone can't make this happen.  But I just paid $82 ROUND TRIP to head out to our desert home this coming weekend.

No, I'm not flying on Friday/Monday.  No, we don't need a hotel.  But that's a certified world record.  So if its been too long and you need a little getaway.......

Wheels up in 48 hours.  8-)

glow / chick - Here's a question .. we're visiting my sister for Thanksgiving in Phoenix, then heading to the Grand Canyon, then flying out of Vegas.

We'll have our 8 and 10 year olds with us, in Vegas, for an afternoon and evening .. maybe 7 hours total, leaving early the next morning.

What's on the list?

Ive never been here, but this could kill a few, hours cheaply.  Good reviews. The pinball machine museum.  It's free to get in and any machine played charges what the original machine charged back in the day- nickel, dime quarter.  They donate extra cash to Salvation Army.

It's just east of MGM off the strip on Tropicana

Yes, the Pinball Hall of Fame is awesome.  Jimmy Mac and I have bonded on Twitter over that place.

Vegas isn't quite the family-friendly place it tried to be a few years back, but here are some suggestions.:

1. The volcano at The Mirage
2. The fountains at Bellagio
3. Siegfried and Roy's Private Garden (it's not what you think - it's white tigers and dolphins and that sort of thing)
4. Walking around some of the theme-ier casinos - especially Paris, New York, New York, Caesar's Palace, Excalibur
5. The Shark Reef at Mandalay Bay
6. Driving down The Strip at night - roll the windows down so you can hear as well as see everything

I would not recommend walking on The Strip at night with the younguns - too many drunks and other people acting inappropriately.

Where are you staying? I can give you some other recommendations based on that so you aren't driving all over the place.

Great list .. so far, no hotel reservation yet, so feel free to suggest.

Clearly, we're not dropping tons of dough on a hotel, we'll only be there for ~10 hours before our flight out.

Then Hotwire is the way to go, IMO.  I just did a search on a week from Saturday and saw 3-stars for $17 and 4-stars for $21.  If you PM me and let me know what day, Glow and I can even help you figure out which hotel it actually is.

Chick's list is a good one topper.  Our kids were 9 and 7 the first time we passed through town doing a Grand Canyon week long loop.  Vegas was the fly-in, overnight, car rental place.

I remember one thing in particular.  They were both absolutely overwhelmed seeing a Vegas style over the top McDonald's sign as we drove down the Strip.  Kids that age understand Mickey D.  Then to see a larger than life Mickey D; priceless.

This is great stuff, chick.

As it turns out, we are going there in October to hang with my daughter and her boyfriend and to meet his family for the first time. (They all live in the Pacific Northwest.)

This list of yours might be geared toward kids, but I think we will enjoy doing some of it. Especially my wife, who is a kid at heart and who really doesn't like gambling.

I'd welcome any more suggestions from you or anybody else. We will be there for 4 full days, which is longer than I usually go for, and we probably won't even be bringing our golf clubs.

We probably are staying at the MGM, or at least in that area.

For shows, terry factor is a must see.  I saw him twice and would do it again if I were taking newbies.

The fall of Atlantis show in Caesars forum shops mall.  Moving statues put on a show about every hour I believe

Back to the kiddies for topper- M & M world has 4 floors,of fun-on the strip right next to the big coke bottle between planet Hollywood and MGM on east side of Vegas Blvd. this looks to be right up an 8-10 year olds wheel house-don't forget their toothbrushes

Great stuff, all.

Question about logistics / parking.  We'll have a rental car.    Do you drive from attraction to attraction, or park and hoof it around?

I recall when I was last there, there was some sort of monorail thing.

I'd park 'strategically'.  Moving the car is a pain.  Do note that the biggest sh*tstorm in years started this Spring when MGM Corp? (I think I'm remembering correctly) started charging for parking.  The locals went insane.

The Deuce bus up and down the strip is a great bet.  Whatever you do, avoid a cab on the Strip.  It'll piss you off to no end to watch people walking faster than you're going while the meter rolls on.

That being said, stuff on the Strip is a lot further apart than it looks.  Even if a hotel is "next door", it can be a 20-minute walk front door to front door.

some of the hotel/casinos are connected via trams.  the monorail is nice, but can also be a little jaunt from the stops to vegas blvd.  they have maps showing you stopping points.  there may be some longer term parking near some of the junctions.  you can get day or partial day passes for your rides.

depending on what day or even time of the day, vegas blvd can be really really congested.  as glow said, many times you can walk faster than your cab or bus ride can take you.  plus you can get all the coupons for the "massage" services along the way in the form of a baseball card sized pic of the local talent :-[  it took us 45 minutes via cab from palazzo to paris-the last time we do that...1 MILE
