I'm of the belief that the Badger fans we all hate, never even attended UW.

Yep, those who actually went there  are tolerable.  Those who like to pretend they did, not so much.

In Michigan we have the term Walmart Wolverines for diehard UofM fans that never went to the school.  Walmart Wisconsin fans doesn't work as well.  Any ideas on a store that starts with a B that these fans would get their Badger gear from?

Question: do you see MU putting down UW-Madison's academics? Nope. They're conference? Nope. The student body? Nope. Go over to the scout board for UW it goes beyond basketball to calling us a second rate school (we're a great school maybe not "the Harvard of the Midwest but a damn good school) they'll call us a mid major conference (MU GTown and Nova have championships, SJU Butler and Seton Hall have runner ups, every team but two have final fours) and they'll refer to our student body as a bunch of snobby rich suburbanites.  (Which might be a great deal of kids at MU but I've had many a friend at UW and there's plenty of those at UW to). We may be obsessed with the basketball rivalry much much more but you guys have a weird obsession with putting MU down over there.

I don't mean to defend them in any way.... but haven't you ever read the board here before?

Haven't you heard the difference between a fan wearing a Marquette shirt and a fan wearing a Badger shirt?  A fan wearing a Marquette shirt went to Marquette while a fan wearing a Badger shirt went to Walmart.

Bahahaha!

You can also substitute "Notre Dame" for "Wisconsin" and it would still be funny.
Have some patience, FFS.

What if they land Diamond?

Speaking of Diamond Stone.  From today's Hartford Courant.

UConn Men's Insider: Huskies Would Be Lucky With This Diamond
By Dom Amore
December 3, 2014

Many big men are considered "projects" when they get to college. But primary UConn recruiting target Diamond Stone, 6 feet 10 and 250 pounds, appears to be no diamond in the rough, says his high school coach..

"I remember seeing him in eighth grade," said Derek Berger, who coaches Stone at Dominican High in Whitefish Bay, Wis., said in a conversation with The Courant on Tuesday night.

"He had post moves our varsity guys didn't have: right-hand hooks, left-hand hooks, spin moves kids who were four or five years older couldn't do."

In the four years since, Stone has continued to prove he is something special. That's why he has become one of the most sought-after recruits in the Class of 2015, and a player on which Huskies coach Kevin Ollie has focused a lot of attention.

The Huskies coaches have been out to the Milwaukee area several times over the last year; Ollie just was there on Monday. Stone has been to UConn twice, on an unofficial visit last June and an official visit in October.

"He's a very humble kid, actually," Berger said. "He sits and listens respectfully whenever the college coaches talk to him. He doesn't go around bragging about [all the attention]."

And for UConn, which has landed combo guard Jalen Adams and forward Steve Enoch, getting Stone, considered a five-star guy across the board, would make this a strong recruiting class, befitting a program coming off a national championship. If they do not, it could still be a good class, sure, but having missed out on wing players Tevin Mack (Virginia Commonwealth) and Derek Jones (UNLV) and point guard Isaiah Briscoe (Kentucky) when they decided in November, there will still be a lot of work to do. UConn would like to get two more players from the class.

Stone has also visited Wisconsin, Maryland and Oklahoma State. There was talk of a decision in November, but now it appears he will wait until the spring. The consensus is that it is between Wisconsin and UConn, and he has been hearing plenty from fans of both on twitter. Perhaps he has leaned one way and then another.

You have to believe that the Badgers have a home court advantage here. Just imagine if Andre Drummond had gone somewhere other than UConn?

"I think what people here want is what's best for him," said Berger, who was offering no hints.

The attention has not distracted Stone as the new high school season gets underway. He had 33 points and 22 rebounds in Dominican's victory over Milwaukee-Washington in the season opener last weekend, taking over when his team fell behind.

"He's a winner," Berger said. "I just see a fully developed player. Super strong, he can take it to the hole, rebound, and the most underrated part of his game is his passing ability."

Dominican-Whitefish Bay is a three-time defending state champion, so Stone is used to winning, and Berger thinks having the chance to win a championship in college will be a strong factor in his decision. Again, UConn and Wisconsin, both Final Four teams last season, can certainly offer that. And he has the potential to be a program-changer almost anywhere.

As Stone has grown as a player, he has matured in other ways. His academic work is solid, Berger said, and he attends to it, doing extra work without prodding.

"I used to get on him a lot about being a vocal leader," Berger said. "Then one game last year, it was a close game, and he asked me to call a timeout. I did, and when we got to the sideline, he was getting on everybody, pepping everybody up, telling them 'this is what we have to do.' He had become that vocal leader."

All of these things make it easy to see why UConn is working so hard to get Diamond Stone.

I really think our chances of beating UW increase if they beat Duke tonight, so this a no brainer for me.  It's just human nature to have a bit of a letdown in focus and intensity after a major success.  I also generally root for the teams we've played because it helps our RPI.  Other than that I don't give a frack about the Badgers.

Yep. They will increase from a 1% chance to a 2% chance.

Doesn't start with a "B", but I'm going with Shopko Badgers.

Doesn't WalMart Wolverine also refer to the fact these fans usually work at Wal Mart or at a similar level retail store?

I always thought the most annoying were the people who went to places like UW-Stout, Whitewater, River Falls, etc. and viewed themselves as Badgers just because they were in the state system.  I loved telling them that they are not Badgers, they are hyphens.

Not a bad list, but Notre Dame should be above VT and Indiana on your hate list, maybe even above Wisconsin.
The only problem here is the rule should clearly be : Never, ever, ever, ever root for No Dick, whoever their opponent is.
I thought you were dead. Willie lives rent free in Reekers mind. Rick Pitino: "You can either complain or adapt."

No matter who you want to win, this is gonna be a damn good basketball game. With that being said, I hop Jahlil breaks Kaminsky.

ChitownSpaceForRent

Couple of observations. Dekker not 100%, Vadgers only have 1, 2 pt field goal in 12 minutes and of course still flopping all over the place.

I was laughing so hard. Im kinda surprised he actually has a pair. Maybe that should be the strategy on Saturday.

Bo still has a knack for getting guys to contribute. Vitto Brown with a nice first half run after Frank started singing soprano.

Watching game, MU can match UW's hustle, we need to make our shots, and find some Magic potion for getting rebounds

ChitownSpaceForRent

Zone is going to work well against them. Not as good shooters as I thought. A lot of their points came from Jackson driving the lane or him passing backdoor. I do think Derrick is a better defender the any Duke guard. Were gonna give them fits.

We got to find some technique to take advantage of those knock backs on Wisconsin offensive rebounds to outside shooters for UW.  They will get a load of them and then get an open 3.  So disheartening after playing good half court D.
