DMX always hyped me up.  I think what we should do is hire him to lead the team out of the tunnel and then run around on the court screaming "what" and barking to an upbeat, thumping baseline.  "We-are" "What?!? "Marquette" "What?!? "We-are" "What?!?" "Marquette" "What?!?"  <loud cheers and applause>

Every game will also function as a mini DMX concert.  I know we already spend a lot on basketball, but I doubt spending $12 more dollars per game to get DMX is going to break the bank.

Hell no. Keep U2. It always got me so amped up at the start of games.
You'll know when you are in trouble. You'll know when you've messed up, because you'll hear a chant of three words. We Are Marquette. And when you hear that...Pray.

Yea, that's cool too.  Frankly speaking, I don't care what he spends his $12 on

I'm not a U2 fan, but I still get chills every time I hear Streets. It's MUBB to me.

+1

I'm not against a change per se but it better be the right one....that Fatboy Slim crap was a disaster.

Honestly, I would go back to the 70s, making a come back with the current generation and there's definitely some hype songs that could generate chills.

Think Aerosmith's Dream On (worked so well in the movie Miracle).  Maybe something from 1977.
"A Plan? Oh man, I hate plans. That means were gonna have to do stuff. Can't we just have a strategy......or a mission statement."

I think this thread can be classified as "You know the coaching search is over when..."

PuertoRicanNightmare

We should play, "If I Can Dream" from Elvis' '68 Comeback Special.

Yeah, we are way overdue for a change.  That song is ancient and reinforces the image of Milwaukee being outdated.  This should be Wojo's #1 priority for next season.  Attention to detail!

Actually there are a ton of schools that use this song, so it's not just Milwaukee being outdated.

Streets is Marquette Basketball, but like I said it's not really unique to us anymore. Other schools are not only using the song, but they are using timeline videos with the Remember the Titans theme (maybe not that unique anyway) and our style of intro videos.

warriorchick

How long have the Chicago Bulls been using "Sirius" as their intro song?

TAMU, Knower of Ball

I would like a change. But I don't think my music preferences would click well with other fans

I do know, Newsie is right on you knowing ball.

This topic has been brought up previously. Streets is a completely limp song that proclaims stale, anemic, and weak. There is no element of danger whatsoever. Mike Tyson used to enter the ring to noise. Metal and chains just clanking. NOISE. That is intimidating.

In contrast Marquette needs something to make itself feel good. Let me just pat myself on the back for Bono's humanitarian causes. Like, I mean, he does such good things for Africa! Yeah he's a rock star, but he is sooooo down to earth.

My brain cells can't die quickly enough to justify this nonsense. I'd sell my soul if I never had to listen to another U2 song in my life.

Michael Jordan came out to sirius. And it is awesome. Can you name any other basketball teams entrance other than MU, Bulls, and the current Heat? I can't. I hate U2, but I love Marquette. I can deal with it.

Couldnt even tell you what the Heat's is.

Blue Horseshoe

I know Gtown used to use Notorious BIG. Also dated, but at least more relevant. Really, it isn't important what other programs or teams use. The point is this, Marquette can do better and thus they should do better. I want the intro to be more dangerous.  I want it to illicit a sense of unease. I don't want it to be friendly happy go lucky.

Anti-Dentite

You know the difference between a dentist and a sadist, don't you? Newer magazines.

mugrad2006

There are only two intro songs I can identify with a team for certain, and that's Streets for MU and the song the Bulls enter to. Iconic to me.

"Into The Pit" Halford

Love Rob Halford. I don't think MU would give it the green light...because well, yeah. I think Halford has about as much of a chance as GG Allin.
