It continues to boggle the mind that grown men care so much about a mascot. Most outgrow stuffed animals and cartoon characters in grade school.

Exactly!!!!!!! Who cares? Lions, Tigers, Bears, Cardinals, Eagles....most nicknames are pretty generic and nobody else cares.

And anybody supporting Gold has lost their mind. It was loudly mocked and rightfully so.

I agree, and it does have a tie in to the history of MU being the first Catholic institution of higher education to admit women into degree-granting programs.  (I think I stated that accurately.)  And we do have the Joan of Arc chapel at the center of the campus, and legend has it that she actually prayed in said chapel. And the undergrad student population of MU is 50+% women.  And while we're at it, why not seriously consider a woman candidate for university president?

I actually don't think anyone on this site is opposed to Warriors. I would love to be the Warriors again. I also think most of the current students would embrace it. I also think it is possible. In order for it to happen, we need to stop praising the old Indian mascots. No more Willie Wampum. no more Indians as avatar pictures, and no more headresses in the student section.

The only thing blocking us from being the Warriors is that the tribes believe that alumni and students would immediately break out all their old racist Warrior gear. Maybe if we stop, they could see that we could be a non-Indian Warrior.

I could give 8 craps about the mascot, I care about the name.

Just as if you were to take away the name "Packers", you would have a rebellion in the state of Wisconsin.  If you were to take away the name Knicks, New Yorkers would burn Gotham.

The mascot doesn't mean crap, it's the name and more importantly, its the fact that a bunch of PC liberal bastards changed it for an incredibly stupid reason.
