Me too.  We don't need a mascot and then we also won't be disenfranchising an entire group of MU Grads by changing/taking away their nickname.

I sort of agree. Who really cares. Warriors, Golden Eagles, Gold, whatever.

I would have been down for Hilltoppers. Just go old school and end the debate there. I just want the debate over. Its a waste of time and energy. But really, the only one who keeps the debate going anymore is a very small minority.

Unless, of course, they drop the Golden Eagles nickname and start the clock running all over again.  I wonder how long it would take for a successful GE alum (DWade maybe?) to offer $1 million to change the name back.

They would never change the name back for a million. IIRC, they were offered way more than that 10 years ago and still said no.

Honestly, any change is going to piss of some constituency of donors. They are better off with status quo if money is concerned.

I doubt it. I have family who graduated in '99, '02, '05, '10 and a current junior at the school, and hanging out with them and their MU friends I've asked them about the nickname and all of them dislike the Golden Eagle. Some would like to see the Warriors come back, some don't care, but none really likes the Golden Eagle.

I say bring back the Warriors, but keep the eagle as the mascot, that way we can further distance MU from the Indian imagery.

You are right, although an exception to this I have found is the radio broadcast. Its all over the place "Golden Eagle basketball brought to you by...." "Official sponsor of the Golden Eagles," etc. etc.

They didn't exactly say "no." The offer initiated a re-vote, which was obviously mishandled.

All you people talking about Golden Eagles are insane. If we switched back to Warriors with a non denominational (or better yet, a Joan of Arc) mascot nobody would complain.

Right--it is all about "Youth shall be served". Nothing about the glory years of the warriors--and nothing done since that compares. Kind of like the modern day mantra "We don't need no stinking constitution". Forget about history, heritage, etc. And please do not come back with Warrior is discriminatory.
