The original post was about how the kid went down with an awful injury and couldn't walk under his own power.  He's had a similar path to O'Tule in terms of tough luck injuries.

If Chris blew out a knee this season would you think it's appropriate for someone to say, "did his goggles stay on his head at least?"

Some people get it, some don't.

Clearly, you don't get it then.

Chris has been here for 6 years. Ya think we can finally get his name right?

I don't really think that's an apt comparison, not sure though...Chris wears goggles for his, you know, missing eye.  Gibbs rockin' 'do doesn't keep a flap of skin on top of his head.

Who knows though, I don't spend time on other teams' message boards, because, *GASP* they probably make fun of our players.

And you'd think after six years, even opposing fans could probably spell Chris' name correctly.  Otule.
Do you understand what an analogy is?  I didn't realize Chris' goggles kept his eye from popping out.  Good info - you're smart.

The goggles are not for his glass eye; they protect his remaining good eye.

When I was flying F 16s we practiced nuclear strike missions. One of the safeguards pilots had was a gold lined eye patch that covered one eye. The patch would save one retina from being fried by the detonation flash so we could return to base, refuel, reload, then fly one last mission.

It wasn't a very good analogy

Actually, it was perfect.  Let me help you.

Gibbs' knee/leg injury history = OTULE's knee/leg injury history
Gibbs' 6th year Senior status = OTULE's 6th year Senior status
Gibbs' hair (i.e. irrelevant to his leg injury and something on his head) = OTULE's goggles (i.e. irrelevant to any potential leg injury and something on his head)

Hope that helps everybody.  Please read twice if necessary.

Can we create a fictional MU basektball player named "Dwane O'Tule"?

I don't always drop nuclear bombs, but when I do, it's done while wearing a gold eye patch.

You do realize that Otule's goggles serve a completely necessary and relevant purpose....Gibb's extravagant and flowing locks do not.  I bet you think Alanis Morissette's song Ironic actually has ironic material in it.

Yikes...what happened to this thread?

McDermott has a sprained AC joint in his shoulder. Will rest today and tomorrow and will be ready to go Sunday. No word on Grant but my impression is that they hadn't done his yet when they announced the Doug report due to swelling. My understanding, however, is that the coaches are preparing for the worst.

Dwayne.  The proper incorrect spelling of Dwyane Wade is Dwayne Wade.

What's the big deal with the hair on Gibbs anyway?  I think McDermott might be even prettier than Gibbs.  I would post side by side headshots but by the time I hit post Keefe will probably already have them up.

The guy you really need to care about is walk-on Alex Olsen.

His hair was so wavy at one point this season that a couple posters on my board were concerned that his long hair forced him to miss a shot.

Don't blame the OP, autocorrect is the real culprit here.

Creighton, in a sense, dodged a bullet on this. Diagnosed as a dislocated knee cap, only expected to be out 4 weeks max. He's a tough kid and I wouldn't be surprised to see him come back earlier than that.

Can he pull a Belushi and get a 7th year?

I would let him take as long as he needs to heal, get your younger players some run, and bring him back for the tourney.

I did that in the gym at the old East Hall my freshman year.  Nothing like looking down and seeing your knee cap on the side of your leg.

It hurts like hell and creates a lot of soft tissue swelling, but four weeks seems reasonable.

I don't think it looked quite like that but there was a lot of swelling, which will need to go down before he starts rehabbing.

The good news is the way our schedule was set up. If he rehabs as projected and it takes 4 weeks, he will have 9 additional days after that. We play SJU on the 28th which is a day shy of weeks. The next game isn't until 2/7 giving him extra time without missing a game if he can't come back early.

Yeah, no rush at all (well unless Creighton starts falling apart for some reason). He's a vet and will be able to get back in the groove quickly.
