I'm assuming this is a good sign, no?
“All men dream; but not equally. Those who dream by night in the dusty recesses of their minds wake in the day to find that it was vanity; but the dreamers of the day are dangerous men, for they may act out their dreams with open eyes, to make it possible.” - T.E. Lawrence

Wright is listed as #82 per 247 sports for 2014.....While Hill is liste at #60.  Both are similar sized.

Their composite ranking is even closer, though. Hill is #62 and Wright is #69.

This could be huge news for Marquette on the Hill front. Wright fills the need Mizzou had for Hill. I feel great about our odds of landing Hill now, with a commit possibly as soon as Madness.

Question.   When a recruit goes on an official visit, do their parents go along?  If so, does the recruiting school cover cost?

Answer: Parents may accompany but are on their own dime. One of our sons played DI football and had a few visits. Truth be told I think he didn't want us tagging along. The only campus I went to was Wazzou and they took great care of us but all costs were on us. Of course, in the Palouse, the nicest lodgings were the Holiday Inn Express and fine dining is a bit of a stretch.

I thought an official included expenses for 1 parent/guardian ?

Not true

My wife flew with our son to Colorado and I am fairly certain she paid for the ticket but I was overseas when that occured. I do know that when we went to Pullman the school booked the hotel but I paid the bill which was less than $40/night with the Coug discount . In that event we drove from Seattle so there was no airfare. He signed a scholarship and every visit to Pullman, including the parent's weekend, was on us. The only gimme we got was a bouquet of roses for my wife on senior  day and that was paid for by the Coug Alumni Assoc.

It may be that we weren't offered reimbursement which is a different matter.

I'm thinking a commitment is possible a lot sooner than that. This may be a "no reason to wait" situation.. but, who knows -- Sandifer just opened things back up (Mizzou wing commit)

PS - rules are ever-changing and bball has unique rules (which were recently changed)... yes - generally speaking, parent/guardian can be covered by school on an official visit

Couldn't the Sandifer decommit possibly nullify the Wright commit?

The Sandifer decommit is curious, but I still think we're better off with Hill than we were before Wright committed. Sandifer had to know Mizzou was chasing more wings, so why decommit when they add one? Perhaps something personal with Wright? Sounds like Mizzou is currently all-in on Devin Booker, a top-20 local product. Both Zagoria and Josh Gershon (who reported the Wright commit) said as much today. Hill is likely at best their third biggest priority at wing, behind Booker and trying to get Sandifer back in the fold.

MuMark

No way is Hill behind Sandifer for Missouri..... behind Booker for sure but according to Missouri fans they have been nudging Sandifer out for awhile.

At this point they most likely want Booker and then Hill......the question really is,,,,,,what does Hill want?

Perhaps he said; "Oh no coach, there's no need to pay for my folks" while hoping you wouldn't go.
You actually have a degree from Marquette?

No...and after reading many many psosts from people on this board that do...I have to say I'm MUCH better off, if this is the type of "intelligence" a degree from MU gets you. It sure is on full display I will say that.

My wife went to the AFA visit and I know she stayed in Officer's Quarters but that was a unique case because of my status. And I know one reason she went was to visit friends stationed at Peterson and NORTHCOM which are both in Springs. For Wazzou we drove over to Pullman and they kept us busy for a day and a half. There were 3 kids from our town who visited and signed together so we were part of a package deal. As I recall, that coaching staff really did insist we visit the campus - more than any other school did. But we definitely paid for the lodging which wasn't much.

So... Totally unsubstantiated, but hearing some rumors of Todd mayo paying his way, through oj, that would allow buzz to oversign/get an extra commit.

Also, has anyone heard anything about Ivan uceda from spain?

Uceda info: "Ivan Cruz Uceda (PF) - A new name to the Canes recruiting ledger, Uceda is a junior college forward out of Spain by way of Harcum College in Pennsylvania. At 6'10", 230, Uceda is a European-style stretch 4 with rebounding prowess, averaging 16 points and 10.7 rebounds per game (a school record for rebounding average in a season). As a foreign prospect, Uceda is somewhat under the radar as compared to prospects who have played in front of American college coaches for years, but many top programs have taken note of his talents in the past year. In addition to Miami, Uceda lists offers from Marquette, Cincinnati, Iowa State, Ohio State, Penn State, and others. He confirmed to us at SOTU that he has is visiting UM September 7. Uceda would have two years of eligibility remaining at the Division I level. Look for our interview with Uceda later this month."

Uceda just committed to Miami. Too bad, he sounded like an excellent prospect.

And this is excellent news about the Wright commit. Mizzou was definitely our biggest competition for Hill. This doesn't take them out of the running, but it certainly hurts their chances. He also hasn't eliminated Indiana, Florida, or Florida State yet, but I think we are definitely in the driver's seat now

This Wright commitment has to be a good thing.
It does not hurt, but MU's problem might be that they have JJJ and Burton who were ranked higher than Hill is now. Assuming he sees Wright as to much competition, then he is going somewhere besides MU and Missouri.

This.  There will be competition wherever he decides to go.  But it definately helps that there will be more competition at Missouri now!
