"Marquette is so good defensively, they steal your mouth guards."

warriorchick

"Marquette suffers the misfortune as being in the same state as that other school from Wisconsin (Wisconsin), but even though the kids in Milwaukee might not be able to measure up to the ones over in Madison, they're still probably the least socially inept Catholic school in the nation (which is the party school equivalent of being the smartest kid on the short bus, but still, credit where credit is due). In the past couple years people have started to complain about the administration and campus police trying to crack down on the party scene, but when half of the student body lives off campus there's only so much they can do. A reaction like that means that the kids at Marquette are doing something right."

Wow, kind of a backhanded compliment if you ask me.  What exactly do they mean by "least socially inept Catholic school"?
Have some patience, FFS.

Well... that is a group that includes Notre Dame, after all. They're bringing down the rest of us.

Pilarz and LW trying to make MU the SLU of party schools.

MU Fan in Connecticut

My younger brother went to Marquette also.  After I graduated, I brought a few of our friends from Connecticut out to visit him for a long weekend for what was their Spring Break.  (Marquette's break was the week prior.)  One friend went to UConn and the other to Bryant College.  I was in the working world.    They were blown away by what was a typical Marquette party weekend.  They were criticized by friends at their respective schools for heading to Milwaukee for Spring Break, but they had the funnest time and swear they made a great call on the visit.  We also made them Real Chili converts.

I've been here for 4 years and the quality and quantity of parties has unbelievably dropped since my freshman year.  I can't believe we're still getting these accolades.

The "are you kidding me?" reaction many of us had upon meeting the many people who went to all boys/girls high schools before they came to MU.

Goose

Well played, Lenny. That made me laugh out loud.

Ari Gold

how come, on all of these lists MU is the one with the shittiest pictures?

real chili 83

Anyone remember the exact quote from playboy back in the 70's when they rated MU and UW as party schools?

Goose

Real

UW was classified as professional at the time.

Do not remember MU ranking but Playboy put UW in class of their own.

I think that is an urban legend.  Someone needs to find the actual article.

The rest of the magazine wouldn't be too bad to look at, either.

Perhaps it is time for you and your friends as seniors to step it up...

Marquette is not a great party school by any standard.  Maybe 30 years ago but not now.  There I said it.

muzzwilliams

I loved my years at MU. The women weren't the best looking, the beer wasn't always the finest, the weather wasn't very pretty but I made due and partied my d**k off. Best years of my life

muzzwilliams

And simultaneously I received a quality education.

I used to throw a fair amount of parties as a Junior, but Renee Row isn't exactly made for huge public ragers.

Reference apt 201 circa 1999-2000.  That crib was out of hand.

Dudes even had a over sized NCAA bracket on an entire wall.

Yup. The courtyard parties there were always a good time.
But I like to throw handfuls...
