Just posted on the FB page

I'm not the biggest TC fan, but it seemed very respectful to me.  Also, sorry if this got posted already and i missed it.

Really wish this had the wet hair.

Love him or hate him he is a big part of our post Al history. The 2003 season ended up being one that we all remember. To me beating Kentucky to go to FF was one of my favorite MU moments. Wade was unreal and we beat a team that many on here hate a great deal. Unfortunately the Kansas game will remain one of my least favorite MU moments.

All in all, in 2003 I thought there was little chance of MU ever being in FF again and the team delivered the goods. Kudo's to the fella's for making great memories for MU fans.

Not bad. Nice comments.

How necessary was the IU back drop? It was the first thing I noticed.

Chicos' Buzz Scandal Countdown

Thanks for everything TC did! (My top 3 below)

1) FF
2) Hiring Buzz
3) Leaving

That last line before "Beat Pittsburgh", whaaaat?

Honor them for that they did in life and what.........?

Or was it just me?

LloydMooresLegs

It was just you.   Just a very nice message that does not need to be parsed with a seven page thread.

No I came to post the same thing. Here's what TC rambled:

Quote"So proud to be have been associated with all of them and everyone at Marquette University.

And I hope that everything gets done in their lives that they set forth and to help all of us get done in our lives and helped us with. And with that being said, go Marquette, beat Pittsburgh."

And with that being said, learn to speak proper English and stop trying to be so profound. You're not, you're a walking, talking cliche.

This. He gave the exact same speech before every game except Wisconsin and Louisville where he would take out his "XYZ is well coached" line.

TallTitan34

What are the odds the students boo the entire speech?

These undergrads were not around when Crean left.  Thats ancient history to them.  Now, 4everwarriors might be leading the boos... :P

Agreed - I felt like this would have been a bit more genuine if the background was literally ANYTHING else.

The students boo Tom Crean at every game during the video.
I think there will be booing today.
It is the consequence of leaving in the manner he did.
You reap what you sow.

I think it was pretty classy of tom  crean to post what he did. However the complaint is he did it in one take. Had he thought it through more and taken a bit more time it would have been more coherent.

Thanks, I thought it was so disjointed I didn't understand what he was trying to say.  Glad I wasn't the only one.

With the class some of our fans have, probably pretty good odds.  Maybe a few can attack his wife and kids, too.  And no, it wasn't the exact same speech.

I'm sure that as BMOC, 4ever will be leading the boos.  For those of you who haven't met him (like myself) here is a picture of 4ever from his undergrad days.

You actually have a degree from Marquette?

Quote from: muguru
No...and after reading many many psosts from people on this board that do...I have to say I'm MUCH better off, if this is the type of "intelligence" a degree from MU gets you. It sure is on full display I will say that.

Listen, Tom is Tom. He didn't have to say anything, even if what he said didn't make much sense, I appreciate what he did say. He kept the focus on the men of the 2003 team and not bimself.  Thanks Tom, I appreciate what you did for Marquette. Sloppy break up to most, but I'm sure most of us would have done the same, maybe differently, that's all

I really hope not, but it's inevitable. It's too bad because he is a major part of bringing respect back to the program.

What was classy about it? The IU backdrop? The "we" references? The incoherent verbiage? Dude looked like the clown he is.

He is the coach at Indiana now...if he wore a MU sweatshirt you would be angry. If he stood in front of the Vatican you would be angry.  It doesn't matter, but since he's the IU coach and they filmed it at IU in their media room, yeah, it's going to have an IU background.

Listen to what he said about the accomplishment, it was nice, etc.  What was "not classy" about his words?

"We"...was he not the head coach of the team and brought those players in?  Why wouldn't it be "we" in that context...makes no sense at all why you go there.  He was part of the team, of course he is going to use we.  Last I checked, that team is in the MU Hall of Fame and he is on the plaque like everyone else.  When Al McGuire spoke at the 20th anniversary of the 77 Championship he used "We" all the time, as he should have.
