The Milwaukee freshman is in this week's SI 'Faces in the Crowd'.   20 blocks?   14 in one game?    As a Freshman?     Land him and Looney to go with Burton and Wilson.    Milwaukee natives win a National Championship.

Landing him would reaffirm Buzz's importance and contribution to MU.  Tough for FP and the domer to ignore.

That kid is an absolute beast.  Maybe once-in-a-generation type talent, and a big to boot.  OOOF.

Not meaning to get too far ahead of ourselves....what is the earliest point in HS can an athlete sign a NLI?

What is ridiculous is if Pilarz and Larry Williams already cannot understand/grasp the importance and contribution of Buzz to MU.  Absolutely frightening if these guys don't get it..or the Board of Trustees for that matter.

SIGH.  Yeah, it'll put a monster dent in their dastardly plan to turn Marquette basketball into an also ran.

I will give FP and the domer the benefit of the doubt.  Perhaps all the hysteria is manufactured in the imaginations of us knucklehead posters, and  they do get it....even the domer.

Some say the school has their undies in a bundle over the BBall budget.  Bottom line is that budget produces an amazing return.  Both in direct revenue, and in admissions.  Tough to ignore.

So... back to Diamond Stone. He's pretty good eh? Would be a nice get right?

Not for another 31 months until November of his senior year.  A long time in the college basketball recruiting timeline and many things could happen by that time.

It's hilarious (and asinine) that people are suggesting that a guy who played football and was educated at Notre Dame doesn't "get" the importance of athletics for a university.
People who say such nonsense are, indeed, knuckleheads.
Let's not forget that 50 percent of the search committee that chose LW was Doc Rivers and Allie McGuire. Apparently they too don't "get it."

Goose

No doubt landing Looney and Stone along with the others would put us in the elite program status. Keeping local kids that are elite has to be the program's top priority. Believe getting Looney is going to be tough, but not impossible. If these kids have watched us play this year there is no doubt they saw the style of ball Buzz plays.

I agree.  I just enjoy gigging him because of the domer pedigree!  It's kinda like a Cub fan ribbing a Sox fan....just can't pass up on the opportunity.   ;D That's all it is for me.  The rest of the speculation is just noise.

Go Warriors!!!

Goose

Has someone seen that the school is worried about the basketball budget? I have not heard that in any discussions or read that anywhere. Do not believe that MU is worried about money in anyway.

Just via the baseless speculation that is rampant with some of our fellow scoopers.

If Stone is a one-and-done, it's going to be very, very tough to keep him away from Kentucky (presuming Cal is still there) or UNC.

Goose

I would not be calling Stone a one and done yet...long time to go before he walks on college floor.

DomJamesToTheBasket

FWIW,  I heard he REALLY likes MU and will be be a very early verbal.  Obviously a lot can change.  And no,  I won't name my source so feel free to take a large grain of salt......just thought I'd share,  as it got me SUPER EXCITED!

I don't know about the early commit, but he does like MU a lot.

Goose

Like the sound of him liking MU because I have also heard that. Nice to hear others are hearing the same things. I will take my chances with Buzz getting any kid he sets out to get. The guy has proven to be big time recruiter.

But is he a Northwestern type of kid?

Goose

Hopefully we are still recruiting UNC type kids in three years. Buzz here in three years I would be very disappointed if we did not land Stone. Have said many times Buzz has to capabilities of getting us to super elite status because he is elite recruiter. Buzz will never recruit Northwestern type kids.

Surprised if Duane isn't top 100 when it's all said and done.

Wilson and Looney would have already graduated, and Key is not going to be ranked ahead of Wilson.
