After a couple of pitchers at Murph's, a $3.00 cheeseburger and fries from Marquette Gyros at times was the best food in the world.

Crystal burgers, West End Ave., Nashville!  Ummmm. mmmm!  Little silver dollar sized burgers, 6 at a sitting, with teeny, tiny onions!

Actually, I believe you are talking about Krystal, which is a chain.  Basically a White Castle that also serves fried chicken.

They ran a commercial in the seventies with a woman bragging, "I ate twelve Krystals once."  Well, have you seen the size of them?  Big whoop-de-do.

dgies, do you remember the name of the bar next to Father Ryan that had good hamburgers?  I don't think it is there any more.  That is where you would go if you had trouble finding a member of  the football coaching staff.
Have some patience, FFS.

The Big-O burger from Oscars

Went for the first time last night - absolutely awesome. Great burger, great atmosphere, great price. This place will be the new Sobleman's in terms of crowded-for-the-space within a year or two.

Agreed. The best burger I've ever had is The Big O. But as a native Milwaukee South Sider, Mazo's is right up there...plus you can hop right across the street to Leon's afterwards!!

Do you know John or Jackie?

the Mrs. & I tried the Big O Monday night and loved it!

What about Mazos' my friend?

Rotiers just off of west end and maybe 26th has an outstanding burger.  And great milkshakes.

That's it!  But Elliston Place Soda shop wins for milkshakes!

Were you Father Ryan class of 98?  So was my baby sister!

True on elliston, but they almost went out of business for a minute last year.  Not a FR Ryan student.  Just worked at 21st and west end from 03-10.

I am not sure about burgers, but the best hot dog I ever ate was in July 1956 at a Yankee game. Now you must understand a nine year old Catholic school kid eating a hot dog on a friday was right up there with the other seven deadly sins according to the good sisters. I can still remember the smell and the taste was to die for.

My daughter thought she had died and gone to heaven when she was handed a menu with a variety of root beers to choose from.  She settled on one called Virgil's, and she loved it.  I have no idea if it was good or not, but she enjoyed it.

I had never really spent much time in STL before that weekend.  Very nice city.

I believe Virgil's is a national brand and can be had at Trader Jose's.

A few recommended out in NorCal:

Kirk's Steakburger
The Habit
The Counter
St johns bar and grill
Val's
SS Marquette

Am I the only one that used to love the burgers at Wales on Wells back in the day?

This must be Nashville. One of my sisters went to Vandy and took me to Elliston Place Soda during a visit (I had been down at Arnold AFB, near the Jack Daniel's distillery.) The shakes were outstanding.

You should never deny yourself, my friend. After 6 deployments to the Sandbox, where a Warrior is denied sex and alcohol for 6 months, I can say that denial does not breed strength. The luscious fruits of life are to be savored rather than missed.

Best I've had in Milwaukee is Buckleys @ Cass & Wells. half kobe/half chuck. Also might be my favorite restaurant overall here. Give it a shot

Best ever is at the 4 Seasons (Lounge) in Chicago. All Kobe with cheddar & a quail egg on top. I still have dreams about it.
