I'm on Georgetown's side in that one.  Screw those Chinesee thugs!

I agree. Just thought I'd bring it up as possible ammo.

The three Teletubbies at the Cinci game this year were hilarious.  Especially when they were trying to dance to the MU dance team routine.  They looked hammered.  My kinda fanatics.

Well, I was laughing a lot anyway.

They're good friends of mine. There is actually 4, and yes they will all be pregaming at my place before the game and sitting with us at the G-Town game. I'm thinking about pulling out the full gorilla suit with them. I'll make a gametime decision.
Farva:"Give me six Schlitzes."
O'Hagan: "Take it easy, Rod."
Farva: "Open bar, dude!"

They are still pretty available. Especially online of course.

You have the contacts at the Furries conventions, right?

I think it's worth noting how absolutely PUTRID our cheerleaders are. "MU Defense" and "Steal It, Steal It, Take that ball away" ?!?! I thought this was the Big East not Catholic Youth League.

Two dudes fit in there? Are you friends with ZFB?

Ha.  Well played.

The point remains, make a fool out of yourself and have fun and get into the game.  It's infintely better than some cheer (although when done right, they are awesome too). When you look back at it and you still laugh as hard as you did then, you did something right.

Stole my thunder, I was definitely about to work in a Furries reference.

I'm trying to conceive of how you could effectively use this as ammo without looking oddly racist.

When I was a student (03-07), the fantatics were pretty poorly organized, which i think is a big detriment to achieving any arranged chants, etc.  My two thoughts:

1. Since it's senior night for DJO/Jae, why not try short, specific chants whenever those players do something good. ex: "D!..J!...OOOOOO!", etc.

2. If we're looking for something unique, or at least not a direct rip-off, are there any chants that were done back in the day that we no longer do that could be brought back? I'd need someone from a previous generation to comment here. There had to be some student section chants during the Maguire era, right?

Bumpin this because I haven't seen a response.  Lots of talk on the board about how bad things are, but nobody has done what you suggested...bringing back what they used to do in the golden years.

My prediction... we here crickets on this point.

ALMOST EVERYTHING DONE AT ANY SPORTING EVENT IS TAKEN FROM SOMEWHERE ELSE.

Incorrect. Marquette invented:

- Thunderstruck
- We. Are. (insert school)
- Holding up 3 fingers when a player shoots and makes a 3pter
- Yelling "swoosh" after a made free throw
- Jump Around
- "Apache"
- De-fense. de-fense.

Crusty alumni need to relax. Let's the students try some new stuff. It might be dorky. It might not work. So what.

I bet the same people that don't like this are the same people that bitch when students rush the floor against a school that isn't #1. Good lord. They are just kids. Let them have some fun.

Not true, did you see the amazingly fast flipper from last year?  She is greatly missed this year

that one move they do where they take their pom-poms from their hips and clap them together is mind-boggling. The amount of skill involved is beyond me!

Oh, also, Aaron Rodgers blatantly ripped off Freddie Mitchell with the "belt routine", and now Novak is doing it.

So what. People imitate stuff all of the time.

Let the students try some stuff and see what sticks.

This looks awesome to me. I hope the kiddos pull it off.

The belt routine has kinda become a staple of Wisconsin athletes. I think it's fair that both Novak and Braun have used it.  I also don't see anything wrong with copying things other schools do, but the "I Believe" chant is easily the most corny thing they could do. There is a hint of doubt in it that makes us look weak. Can't they change it to "I know that we will win"?  Seems like something along these lines is more confident.

I've seen the "I Believe" chant in person, it sounds pathetic.

If you want to copy something, copy this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SUgGns9Avbs

What makes us cool and better than any other school is that we are not organized and we still give the opposition hell. Everything our students do is organic, not some fake BS. Look at the goofballs in Madison and at Duke. The whole deal is orchestrated and unoriginal. Some of those Dbags are clueless about the game but love the ritual (sat in Wisconsin student section at Kohl Hole a few years ago--they are a joke, like everyone is from Janesville and Rhinelander and think they are big timing it because they know the words and moves). Word to the students: drink heavily, go to the game and go apeshit.

If the students could ever coordinate a top to bottom wave in the student section, that would be really cool.  The Golden Avalanche.

The wave blows.
