Can we steal this from the Dawg Pound at North Carolina A&T:

I believe this was also tried once, thanks to the athletic department...some students caught on, and it was great.  But it failed!

We should play Varsity while we are at it too.

I get sick of the Becky fans telling me we stole Jump Around....I don't really need more stealing and not have Utah State fans accusing of suck things.  ;)

Have fun....it is the last home game for many seniors, both on and off the court. The BC will be rockin', prearranged chants or not. Whether we want to admit it or not, MU has one of the best student, alumni and fan bases built around basketball...and yes arena and surrounding entertainment areas in college hoops. MU Marketing has added a lot this year via social media and other promos like the couch. Can it be a better fan experience, yes and some promos do become staid. Visit some other schools and you would appreciate MU's experience more.

Personally, I love the random costumes/gear students or alums wear. It gets people talking and socializing--and more so adds to the excitement.  Loved the Fuzz Williams or the Butler Did It signs/get-ups, the unitard cowboy versus Tennessee down in Nashville, the Jimmy Mac pants, etc.

🏀

I've changed my mind about this.

Please try to get this started. It will likely fail miserably, and it won't be all the students fault.

Funny how 3 students try to take initiative and start a new tradition for MU students and they get absolutely railed for it. So what if it's taken from another school...News Flash - ALMOST EVERYTHING DONE AT ANY SPORTING EVENT IS TAKEN FROM SOMEWHERE ELSE.

I can semi-understand the criticism of the timing, but at the same time, it's Senior Day. Not only Jae and DJO's last game, but the last game for many students (as a student) - there SHOULD be something special to get people more involved, interested, and most importantly, excited for the game...mainly because there has been NONE of the three at most games this year.

If you don't like it, fine...but don't criticize the idea when you have nothing better to bring to the table.

I'm all for stealing the concept, but to lift it directly from Utah State is just dumb.  Take the concept and at least say something different.  I don't care that its not unique, but you could easily make it unique-ish but that apparently requires too much effort.  Hell lets go all in and start doing Rock Chalk Jayhawk, that's pretty cool.

If you want me to bring something to the table, I can spend some time thinking about it and I'll come up with something twice as interesting as this....then can I complain?  And I think plenty of ideas have been offered by me and others in this thread that are better than this idea, what is the threshold to bring something to the table, do I need a business plan or prospectus or something?

The three Teletubbies at the Cinci game this year were hilarious.  Especially when they were trying to dance to the MU dance team routine.  They looked hammered.  My kinda fanatics.

Well, I was laughing a lot anyway.

+1. Business plan at a minimum. You also have to sit in Section 106 every game.

Play "Country Roads" at the end of games now too.

Agreed...they also took of their hats for the national anthem.

If we are going to be original on the chant...the answer is right in front us of us:  "Take...me...home...country...roads" in cadence to "We Believe that we will win"

That was totally awesome and sparked a huge debate in our group of where did they find one teletubby outfit let alone three.....and teletubbies are like 10 years old have they been sitting on these outfits for all that time???

Sultan was right on... Here is what I suggest(what we did back in the day) you start by pouring some Bacardi over ice and then add a little Malibu(as a mixer) have two of these. On the way to the BC have a beer and when you get to your seats have one or two  more. Essentially you wind up with around 2k hammered college kids. I don't know about the rest of you but I become super intelligent, not to mention creative when I get 4 or 5 drinks in me. It's senior night have some fun get a little crazy. Oh and be safe and enjoy your nap after the game.

They are still pretty available. Especially online of course.

Does the GU student section do anything that our students could mock?

When we played ND during my time at MU (IIRC it was the 2003-2004 season), some friends and I hoisted another friend up to do pushups like the Domers do for football games after they score.

BC security stopped us after awhile though...fascists.

Today, the youngins do "Kegs n Eggs"...still po'ed I didn't think of that back in the day.   ;D

When I was a student (03-07), the fantatics were pretty poorly organized, which i think is a big detriment to achieving any arranged chants, etc.  My two thoughts:

1. Since it's senior night for DJO/Jae, why not try short, specific chants whenever those players do something good. ex: "D!..J!...OOOOOO!", etc.

2. If we're looking for something unique, or at least not a direct rip-off, are there any chants that were done back in the day that we no longer do that could be brought back? I'd need someone from a previous generation to comment here. There had to be some student section chants during the Maguire era, right?

Doing something is better than nothing...you have to actually try to find some success.

So you're saying they need to try 8 times?

My friend and I got on SC one night during the 2003-2004 season because he wore this:

Yes, he twirled the tassels around.  It was glorious.

How about instead of 'I BELIEVE THAT WE WILL IN' you just try to get a solid 'WE ARE MARQUETTE' chant going?

bdee29

we could always make fun of this. Seems like it's largely been forgotten.

False, sometimes it is better to do nothing then something stupid.....see ND and their stupid chant sheets

As an underclassman (99ish?), I seem to remember a group of students handing out flyers outside the student section before a game to try to get some chants and cheers organized, but most of the flyers ended up as paper airplanes and it went no where. The student section at that time was reminiscent of the crowds from The Waterboy so maybe that had something to do with it.
