How many losses did Al's championship team have?

That wasn't a shot at MU, just that its Really hard to be ranked high when you have 2-3 more losses that the team your trying to jump. This thread is about ranking and I was responding to that.

7. Virtually al towards the end of the season. It looked bad for Marquette. There was a sense we wouldn't get an invite. Some believe it took a great first half against #1 Michigan in the last game of the season in order for us to get the bid. It was probably Al's worst regular season in the 70's. He complemented that with his best post season of that decade.

We actually went a pretty good run after losing final three home games. Couple of big road wins prior to Michigan game. We had five home losses that season and bad road loss to Cincy and otherwise played great on the road. Hands down the most losses for NC team up to that point. I think we were getting in without having lead at Michigan, but it definitely helped.

I remember that. We lost consecutive games at home to DePaul, Detroit and Wichita before winning a few games leading up to Michigan. I went to the game at Wisconsin which was our first win in a few weeks. That game was at their old barn of a facility - I think it was called the Fieldhouse. I know it was the night before a Calculus exam but there was no question about going to the game. Back then we used to play Wisconsin in the old Milwaukee Classic as well as in alternating home games. The crowd in Madison was loud but it wasn't put off by the presence of several dozen MU people. It seems the rivalry has gotten more venomous over the years.

The Warriors finished the regular season with 5 road games after the lost at home to Wichita State. Beat UW by 15, then Virginia Tech, Tulane, and Creighton before losin' in Ann Arbor on national TV.
The road to the FF at the Omni started in Omaha vs. Cincinnati, then to Oklahoma City vs. Kansas St. and Wake Forest.

I'll go high...11 in the AP, 12 in the Coaches.

I want that BET win over Louisville so bad. Sick of getting smothered by them.

4th and State

What a difference a few months make.  Who would've thought we'd be ranked above Florida at any point this season.

Could Michigan be anymore overrated?  Other than squeaking out a home win in a rivalry game with MSU, they haven't beaten anyone good since early February and lost to Wisconsin, Indiana, MSU, and PENN STATE yet they are still 6 in the AP poll?  What a joke.

Who cares what we are ranked.   The committee says we are a 3 seed.

Kenosha cares. Had we beaten Virginia, we'd be a 2 seed.

I thought it was the K-State scrimmage all of those years ago that is keeping us off the 2 line this year.

Beasley had what...70+ against us, right?

15/16 today.

No votes votes for Davidson.

How could that be?

exactly!  only one more poll that matters.

We should start next season in the Top 10 (Top 5?) with Blue, Wilson and Gardner coming back and three Top 60 recruits.
