Wow.  Was pretty confident we'd end up at 5 so this is a nice surprise.

That UConn match-up Saturday might get a tiny bit of attention this week.  Need to take care of Butler first.

4th is exactly right.  And the opportunity is right there to have a gargantuan week.  Let's go now!!

TAMU, Knower of Ball

Excellent. I really thought Zona would jump us after beating the second and third best P12 teams on the road. Pleasantly surprised.

I think there's a pretty clear gap forming between the top 14 and the rest of the field. Alabama, Dayton, Creighton, BYU all moved up despite losing last week. Dayton moving up despite losing to a mediocre VCU team is particularly surprising.

I do know, Newsie is right on you knowing ball.

Believe I saw UConn has only hosted two top-five matchups ever.

How is UW still ranked let alone #20?

4 Ls in a row, yes, but squeaking out a 2 pt win vs Minnesota still holds a lot of weight

Play the game the right way
That's interesting, right?  The overall resume includes double digit wins in Q1 and Q2, so I can see their NET ranking holding up (somewhat) but we talk about how voters (A and Coaches) typically look at where a team was last week, then see what they did since then, and vote based on that simplistic recency bias.  But, apparently that theory seems flawed too.

Hey! Gophs were sizzling until the classic Minnesota meltdown yesterday

There goes Seth Davis ranking MSU after winning a single game even with the loss to Minnesota last week. What a joke he is.

TT, where do you find this breakdown?

Not sure on the logistics that go into it.

But boy Fox should be trying to do their own gameday type situation for this game. With a crew on site rather than studio.

Agreed - a great PR opportunity for the Big East.

Further evidence of why Rothstein is a clown.  Writes a bunch of tweets fawning all over Shaka and Kolek this week...ranks them lowest of any voter in the nation along with a bitter UNC writer and a guy in Honolulu.

Well said JWags.

It will be very interesting to see what happens if we do have a 2-0 week. Unless we beat UConn soundly, it's hard to imagine us jumping ahead of them if we're 20-5 and they are 23-3. Purdue is similar, even if they lost at Ohio State on Sunday, would many voters move us ahead? I'm sure we'd slide ahead of Houston on some ballots whether they beat Texas Saturday or not, but we might be at the point where we need the teams ahead of us to lose 2-3 times before we can move up any more.

Agreed. As much as I would love being #1, I don't see any sound logic to be moved ahead of UCONN if we win.
