Yes.  But Lunardi (who is a flaming idiot, and is still taken seriously), has Marquette as a 3 seed.  Let me know when respect is given to Marquette.  I'm not saying it is right, but Marquette will be ranked somewhere between 5 and 8.  I'm sticking with 7.

If you're following bracketology, don't use Lunardi. He's not very good.

I consider Lunardi a joke, but he is a good representation of the average voter/commentator.  I use him as the North Star of Idiocy.

It's okay.  I'm just not seeing the Marquette love nationally.  Hopefully, I am surprised.

The top comment on the r/collegebasketball post game thread on Reddit is a Kentucky fan saying we should be #2.

Vander Blue Man Group

I've always wanted to say, "Vander Blue Man Group" is brilliant.

Here is how I got to 7:

1. Purdue
2. Arizona
3. UCONN
4. Houston
5. Creighton
6. Duke
7. Marquette

I am not saying it is right, but my utter and complete lack of faith in the voters make it a 7.  Personally, I would vote 2 and accept 4.

warriorchick

I think we are 3 and here's why:

Last week there were 24 writers (almost 40%) who had us ranked 5th or worse.  My guess is that most of those people thought we had not proved ourselves against a tough opponent.  This week, we crushed last week's #1 and came within one bucket of beating #2.  That's going to convert a lot of those voters into Marquette believers.

Also, as much as it will hurt, we need to send good vibes to Michigan State tomorrow so that they spank Zona.
Have some patience, FFS.

MU82

Would be surprised if we're lower than 4, and very surprised if we're behind Kansas. Could definitely see UConn leapfrogging ahead, even if I don't like it.

Others receiving votes.

Seriously, 4-6.   Purdue, UConn AZ at least ahead.   Probably Kansas, too.

Was this a joke?

Am I in the twilight zone right now??  People thinking we stay at our same ranking or possibly drop??  We are #2 or #3 in the country come Monday without a doubt.  Personally, I think we are #2 no matter what happens until Monday but there is absolutely zero chance we are ranked #4 or higher lol.  People are takin crazy pills

That said I think UCONN is the most talented team.  Especially if Castle is the real deal and is back next week.

Absolutely #2. We beat #1 and lost to #2. No question we are just slightly behind new #1 Purdue. No other case can be made. F all of the other pretenders out there especially the Dukies, NC, MSU, UCONNN, etc.
And if we had an answer for Pudues gargantuan center we should be #1.
Jeeezzz where can we one of those?

Unless they lose to Michigan State, Arizona is probably 2.  Then it's down to us or UConn

1 loss teams in November drop behind undefeated high profile high majors.   It will be ok.

This isn't the college football poll.

I think because of the high profile of the field in this tournament and quality of games that MU will benefit in the rankings this week. Think little chance of falling and I think they end up #3.

For the first time that I can remember, MU's ranking means a little less to me. The eye test says that they can win a NC and getting ready for March should be the only goal. I love their chances to make noise in the spring.

It rarely means much to me.   Win a lot and let the chips fall where they may.

I agree rankings, but I do think being in the top ten changes things a bit. It is like the last two years when they got ranking, it is a measuring stick on progress.

Right now, this team is proven enough to me in six games and they have what it takes to win it all. Now, I hope we see individual and team improvement over next few months. That likely will be subtle and the coaches can figure that out.

tower912

Goose, everybody who watched that tournament knows that there were really tough teams playing and that 4-5 of them could make the final 4.   Heck, UCLA figures it out and perhaps 6.    The basketball world knows that MU is very, very good.
It is November.   Other than short term bragging rights, the polls are currently irrelevant.   MU's SOS has taken care of itself.   Other than injuries, I have no concerns.   Going to sit back and enjoy the ride.
