SMH.  How many times do we have to go through this?

MU is not #29.  There is no #29.  If every poll voter was in lockstep agreement that MU was #29, how many votes would they get?

We all understand that the poll only goes to 25 but it's a lot easier to say they were 29th instead of fourth in others receiving votes.  I doubt anyone thinks Marquette is ranked 29.

Wow. Champions Classic on opening night, will have the Top 4 teams.

So what you're saying here is that you feel pretty good about MU being higher than 30th, right?

Every poll voter isn't in lockstep agreement on anything. Marquette received more voting points than all but 28 other teams.

It's a college basketball pill, and a pre-season one at that.

Just two below us, at "31st," is Davidson.

Good team coming off a 24-win season (including 14-4 in a good non-P6 conference), lots of experience, good shooters, outstanding coach.

That will be one heck of a tough game in Orlando. One of the keys to our season the same way Louisville was last year, IMHO.

I predict we move up to 26th based on our drubbing of St. Norbert's (for Sultan), and the successful bionic leg replacement for Jayce.

Icing on Monday (11/11) will be Garcia's announcement of his desire to be a Warrior (no doubts about this, per my spies, sources, and sundry intel).

No reason not to think we won't move up even more since at least 2 of the teams in front of us are going to have 1 in the loss column come November 5 and we hopefully won't.   ;)

Coaches Poll.  Other's receiving votes FWIW.
2nd in others receiving polls is not a bad starting place. There are a few weak teams on that list MU can overtake with a solid non conference season.

BPI has us at 18
They also have UW-Madison 6th, and Seton Hall 46th.  Don't know the ins and outs of their algorithm, but it certainly seems like one of the more flawed ones out there.

Team Rankings likes SH more and UW less.....our rankings are remarkably similar to BPI and Pomeroy.

They had us 4th in the preseason last year, if I remember right.

I must be reading wrong, but doesn't it show MSU v KY and Duke v KN at the same time as our game on 11/5?

And we ended up ranked #10 in real life until Markus got undercut on a "charge" at Nova and the Hausers took their ball home

There were two or three charge/blocking calls that went against MU that game on both sides of the court.

Not that I'm still bitter.

I've heard talk about Marquette jumping up from 17 to 15 in kenpom, but I noticed this morning that MU jumped from 30 to 20 on T-Rank. The advanced metrics like us.

Marcus92

T-Rank also has the Big East as the top-ranked conference in Division I. KenPom puts the BE at #2, just behind the Big 12. Then there's a pretty big drop-off to the next team according to both systems.

MU @ #26. One spot behind Uw Madison who is ranked #25 because they took SMU to OT when they were ranked. Therefore some of the advanced metrics will have them #1 along with Andy Katz.

They played St. Mary's College of California - not Southern Methodist University.
