Sick of this damn big name bias. KU can lose all day and only drop one spot a week
Ridiculous.

Two out of three weekends with no game. What's up with that?

It's a terrible quirk.

Coming off best road game of the season the last thing needed was a six day wait for St. John's. Their performance showed the negative impact of the break. Could be deja vu all over again with DePaul/Butler.

Don't like our odds getting two wins since we only have one game this week.
Lol, thanks for pointing out. I am so focused on the one game at a time mentality I haven't even looked at our schedule. I just look at the scoreboard above on Scoop for the next game, to me that is the schedule.

Teal?

Nobody can really be this outraged about polls that serve only as conversation pieces.

Like a couple others, I was impressed/pleased that we stayed at No. 10 despite a home loss to an unranked team and that Nova actually moved up a spot after losing to us. The latter says at least a little something about the respect we're receiving IMHO.

Nova moves up with the loss. Michigan state drops 2 spots, but Houston moves up 3 and we stay at 10.  WTF?  Houston moves up 3 on the strength of beating Cincy?

I think Houston moved up on the strength of a one loss season after picking up two Quad 1 wins in the toughest week of its conference schedule.  Not that surprising, and tough to deny, to be honest.

Michigan State's drop is probably more a result of three straight losses rather than the Illinois loss in isolation.  I also wouldn't be surprised if they actually move back in front of us next week if they go undefeated this next week, even if we win at DePaul.

As for Nova, a one-point loss in a Quad 1-A road game is a fine look--especially when they had the ball with a chance to steal one on the road.  With so many others losing at the same time, I'm not shocked that they moved up one.  They are still on top of the Big East standings, after all.

They are also #1 in Q1 victories so that offsets a lot of the losses

If we were all part of HoustonScoop, we wouldn't feel any need to apologize for where the team is now. If they prove to be fool's gold -- and they might -- we'll see. But it's not ridiculous at all that they're a top-10 team, and they just had a very nice week. This past week, they had arguably 2 more impressive wins than many of our 2-win weeks.

Don't lose to Depaul, fer chrissakes

I hear ya ... But this is not the Depaul of year's past.  They are 5 - 6 tie for third.  Yes, they are tied with half the league for third at  5-6, but for Depaul, this is one of their best results after 11 conference games in the last decade.

Not at all ...

Your earlier comment suggests you still think Depaul is a 2-16 or 3-15 BE doormat and if we lose to them it is an unspeakable disaster.

The reality is DePaul is tied for third in the BE and will be as difficult to beat on the road as any other BE team not named Villanova.

They will be a tough out.

North Carolina going down!

I like it. Even though they are only two spots ahead of us, I don't think us beating DePaul (assuming we do) would be enough to pass them. They have a pretty sizeable lead in votes and losing to Virginia even at home likely doesn't cost them that much.

We went 1-1 in 2 home games we were favored in and stayed in the same spot in the polls and some people are complaining we get no respect?

North Carolina loses by 8 at home to Virginia.
Kansas losing to tcu, a lot of game left....

This is a great lesson for you younger folk that fawn all over predictive models and advanced statistics..here's a tip..ALWAYS ALWAYS ALWAYS take the more talented team regardless of the #'s say. You can make them say whatever you want them to say..but if you are able to judge talent, and always pick or assume the better team will win.. you won't get it right all the time but you will certainly be right way more than you are wrong..models dont factor in talent.

Yes they do. They measure talent and compare the talent between teams.

Again, the model predicted after 40 minutes that the margin would be 1 point. Instead it was 0. That's accurate.

You don't use a service like KenPom to say that "this team will definitely win". You use it to determine a probability. The probability for this one was a coin flip. And it went to overtime, in other words, a coin flip. It was much more accurate than your eye test was on this game. Unless you expect us to believe that "KANSAS WILL WIN PERIOD" meant that you thought that they would need OT to be what you consider an obviously inferior team.
