He took the "Depaul of the ACC" and turned them into a top 10 team.

Let's not get carried away here.
VaTech had two actrocious seasons under James Johnson, who clearly wasn't ready for the job, but in Seth Greenberg's last six seasons they finished 3rd, 4th, 7th, 3rd, 4th, 9th.
They averaged 21 wins per year over Greenberg's last six ... which happens to be the same number of  wins Buzz has averaged during his past three seasons. Buzz's best conference finish is 7th.

DePaul has never finished better than 7th in the Big East, has finished last seven times, and has averaged 11 wins a year since joining the conference.
Not saying Buzz hasn't done very well at VaTech, but they haven't been anywhere near as low as DePaul.

I think we get up to 10, but don't think we'll pass MSU. Honestly, I don't think they should even drop from 6. They are clearly better than Nevada at 7.

You wouldn't drop MSU after 2 losses this week?

If they had 2 losses this week I would. But they beat Iowa on the road and Maryland at home earlier this week.

The Thing

My bad. I thought they lost earlier this week! I agree. Maybe no change for them.

A loss is a loss, i can see msu and kentucky flip flopping unc 9 and mu 10

Buzz is changing his look......

He has something in mind......

You laugh at Buzz at UCLA......Can you imagine how good he would be.....

My prediction.....Buzz will be the highest paid Head coach at some point in the next 5 years....

As for our rank......No change......

Going to the city where character (lack thereof) is on display daily in Hollywood...though UCLA rarely takes JC's unless forced to.  UCLA has also complained for decades about the academic requirements....is the school going to lower them for BW?  Not likely.

I think Texas or A&M more likely.  Hell, even the tanned one schooled old Shaka yesterday.
"I hate everything about this job except the games, Everything. I don't even get affected anymore by the winning, by the ratings, those things. The trouble is, it will sound like an excuse because we've never won the national championship, but winning just isn't all that important to me." Al McGuire

Your Buzz prediction is nuts and UCLA really isn't a great job or program any more.

I never said Buzz to UCLA.....

I said Buzz would be ultra successful there.....if he chose that gig.....

My prediction is that Buzz will parlay VTech into the highest pay in college Bball......And that will be a blue blood or quasi blue blood with very deep $$$$ pockets......

As we all know......Buzz is never about the money.......

How soon are we saying "highest paid in college basketball?" He will not be the highest paid college basketball coach within the next 5 years.

I know, your prediction of him being the highest paid coach is nuts. And I dont necessarily agree that Buzz would do great at UCLA.

Buzz is pretty structured in his approach to things. I think he will follow the same path he did at MU. First he will extract the most he can from VPI while he is doing well. He will stay alert to opportunities and then will bail for a 6 year deal somewhere, along the lines of what Crean got from Georgia or Holtman Ohio State. I think he will want to stay in a conference where it is easier to recruit though.

Buzz makes $2.75M now.  Coach K and Cal are in the $8M range.  You really think he'll be anywhere near there?  And what blue blood is going to hire him?

So....what are we ranked on Monday??? Or should we talk about Buzz some more.

SI Top 25 and 1 has MU staying at 11.

Frustrating, if KU has won then we'd probably have moved ahead of UK but people will look at the head to head and not put us over KU

Agreed but I support that. I definitely don't think Wisco, Buffalo, Louisville or KState should be ranked above us if we slip up to a top 10 team on the road

I wonder how our very own TAMU Eagle feels about this...

He would certainly fit in. There are rumors that Coach Kennedy may step down for health reasons soon

I don't see any way we don't pass Virginia Tech. Maybe the voters keep Kansas above us but I'm not convinced.
