I don't see any way we don't pass Virginia Tech. Maybe the voters keep Kansas above us but I'm not convinced.

I would agree. Marquette should have two top 10 programs come 11am tomorrow

You very well might be right about Kansas, TAMU, but if I were a voter, I would have a tough time putting Marquette ahead of a team it lost to on a neutral court -- especially when that team has better wins than we do and "better losses" than we do. Then again, I probably just put more thought into it than many voters will. So never mind!

I'd sure love to see top 10 ... and then us take care of business over the next couple of weeks.

I think we're going to start seeing diminishing returns.

KU has better wins, but we do have better losses. I think one other factor is they beat us on a neutral with Udoka Azubuike, who's done for the season. They are 7-4 without him this year. Pretty easy for even a rational voter to see that his loss makes a big difference.

Does anyone actually trust the voters to do the research and come to the conclusion that MU should be behind KU because of one game that occurred in November?  Because I certainly don't.  They look at who lost and drop the a couple spots,  and then look who won and move them up a spot or two.  We may not pass KU, but I really doubt that it'll be because of a result in the 5th game of the season.

I also think we’ll see voters have the “but it’s Kansas” mentality and simply vote/keep them higher because of their blue blood status.

I watched Nova dismantle Seton Hall yesterday.  Not sure he's wrong.  They look really good of late.

Assume what I say should be in teal if it doesn't pass the smell test for you.

I feel Marquette squeaks in at 10. Lots of ballot correction this week from voters so far. Should be fun nonetheless.

I’m thinking Kansas 10, MU 11. Just hoping next week we are still thinking potential top 10!

A fair amount of voters had KU behind us already. This week added some clarity to the picture in terms of Auburn, Buffalo and Texas Tech in relation to Marquette as well.

Really is fun to have these convos rather than the bubble thread. I instinctually still have a Torvik rooting guide tab open as a residual habit.

You study this stuff more than I do, brewski.

But are road losses at AZ State, Iowa State, WV and Kentucky really "worse" than road losses at Indiana and St. John's, especially when combined with the fact that Kansas beat us on a neutral court?

Excellent.  If the guys who had us in the high-teens are dropping us that much, even if the guys who have us around 12 keep us the same we should pick up a ton of votes.

There are a few ballots where we are low (10 or 11) but had Maryland or tech ahead of us that should change too.

Buzz makes $2.75M now.  Coach K and Cal are in the $8M range.  You really think he'll be anywhere near there?  And what blue blood is going to hire him?

Pretty sure his total comp is far more than $2.75m. Buzz Inc. makes some nice coin in Deliverance country.

I think you are right about what blue blood would hire him.

Does Buzz even want a blue blood or just to return to Texas?

I think Buzz wants the adulation of a new fan base every 4-6 years until he can create an internal scenario where he is not being respected/loved/paid appropriately.  I'm not so sure Texas knocks that chip off of his shoulder.

(AP) -- Tennessee stayed atop the AP Top 25 men's college basketball poll for a second straight week.
The Volunteers earned 48 of 64 first-place votes in Monday's poll to extend the program's first stint at No. 1 since February 2008. Tennessee (18-1) has won 14 straight games.
The top six remained unchanged, with Duke sitting at No. 2, followed by Virginia, Gonzaga, Michigan and Michigan State. Kentucky moved past Nevada to reach No. 7, while North Carolina and Marquette each rose two spots to round out the top 10.
No. 15 Louisville had the week's biggest jump -- moving up eight spots -- while No. 17 Purdue, No. 24 Wisconsin and No. 25 Florida State returned to the rankings.
Auburn, Iowa and Mississippi fell out of the poll.
