Iowa was destroyed though.

Yes, but they turned around cruised through a pretty solid Iowa State team a few days later. I hope we hop over them, I just get the feeling we won't.

I just took a quick look at their schedule. My only thought is that they really pounded some of their cupcakes (40-50 points) and their losses have been pretty close other than Tennessee by 11. The beatdown we suffered vs Indiana really must have held a lot of weight as well.

According to NET rankings the beatdown was a 10 point loss, just like their cupcake wins were 10 point wins..

True, but doesn't the blowouts still benefit their efficiency numbers? So a blowout still shows up in the rankings.

Not exactly. While they did cap the margin at 10, they didn't put any cap on offensive or defensive efficiency. So when you win 100-60 in a 75 possession game, it is the same as a 10-point win in the margin column, but the offensive efficiency is still 1.333 ppp and the defensive efficiency is still 0.800 ppp.

Teams that run up the victory margins will be benefited by the NET despite the margin cap.

I dont know if we will get in for sure. I think we should get in and deserve to be ranked, but purdue will get in and I dont know about anyone else. I think if we do, we will be 23-25

That assumes Purdue beats texas tonight.
Assume what I say should be in teal if it doesn't pass the smell test for you.

22 or 23.   When we beat Buffalo maybe we go up a few.

Louisville also has a road win and we don't yet.

Iirc the NET is still using the road/neutral/home values for wins from the RPI as part of the formula.....road wins are valuable but obviously without knowing the formula it's hard to know how much that is depressing our ranking right now.

Quadrant system being used for team sheets again. Based on NET rankings this year.

Shaka did us a solid and beat Purdue. That should keep them from getting very many votes. I think the highest we could end up is 20 and the lowest is 24.

So we beat the #12 team two weeks in a row, and have losses to soon to be ranked Indiana, and #1 Kansas... yet we aren't ranked?

You guys are nuts.  I'll take us at 20 at minimum.

Nature of the beast. Many voters simply look at their rankings from the previous week, see who lost, move them down, and move up the teams that didn't lose. I would be surprised if there were 20 better current resumes out there, but I think we end up in the 20-24 range.
